Wait are you actually all in denial that Bégin is promoting ChallengeU ?

People are challenging your notion that its only a publicity stunt for quick money.

For one, he made 7M in his career and has a succesful business on top of paid appearances on french networks.

For two, he started in 2017. Hardly what I'd describe as "quick".

That is seriously impressive.

I remember entering Cegep and wanted to pass my High shool Chemistry class at home (I failed).
After my Baccalaureat, I wanted to do partial time a Master @ school while working. (I failed)
I failed with lack of motivation.

My wife returned to school with 2 young kids at home. I'm really impressed by her.

It's really not...it's f***ing high school :help:

Most people get through high school without even studying, a bit of extra effort and you'll get on the honour roll. Unless he had a mental condition, he did the bare minimum and got the most basic school diploma you could get. If this was some random guy, no one would care...but because it's Begin, people like you are probably secretly ready to throw a parade.

I don't think so. It's just more than a little cynical though to think he only did it for money.

He may have got the diploma and publicized it for noble ideals and found a way to make a few bucks at the same time. That's a win win.

fun fact, i had way more difficulty in high school than during my BAC. High school can be more challenging for certain people but University easier.

Theres no negatives in the story, people just got offended that the story might not be as "feel good" as people think it is.

The guy is clearly getting some kind of money for it, he's a spokesperson for them and does seminars.

But you know what? Its a good thing, the guy is getting paid, Ill never blame someone for going after money...

But, get offended for that comment, be my guess.

Easy to poke fun at Begin, but he deserves a lot of credit for spotlighting his own failings and placing value on education.

It's never too late to achieve goals that matter to an individual. Kudos to Begin for seeing it through.

That's fine...but doesn't make getting through high school 'f***ing impressive'.

87% of Canadian kids do it every year. Good on Stevie for catching up to society though.

To be clear, I wasn't offended. I could see it wasn't necessarily black and white.

Life is short always finish what you set out to do. Good for the Guy! Small or not Paid? So what it could be embarrassing to some? Like Coach Jacques Demers never learned to read.

Even if there was a personal stake unrelated to getting his degree, I think it doesn't deter the power of the message. Maybe there will be one individual out there who reads the story and will make a life-changing decision. Just positively influence one individual and it would be a great contribution to society right there.

He was probably paid, passing HS test for a guy with is resource shouldn’t be a accomplishment it likely a publicity stunt but you can’t against the promoting education.

Holy crap - what a miserable existence for some people have such a negative knee jerk reaction to this news.

Ya, it's only high school, and ya Challenge U, which seems to be the platform he used to do it, has their name on his shirt.

He's obviously proud of having completed it and this might make some people who might have dropped out of HS think a bit about completing it. There's nothing negative about this.

Maybe it's not news-worthy enough for you, but what do you get from belittling his accomplishment?
