I'm here, I'm bored
OHL Legacy Tournament.
Hi guys and gals. I figured with all of us missing hockey so badly, I could add some fun and come up with this hypothetical tournament for you to submit rosters to. I'm curious to see what they look like.
Imagine the OHL had a tournament this summer where each franchise could play a roster consisting of all-time greats. Assemble what your team’s roster would like under the following rules.
1) You get the player as is. Their current age, skill and playing status. If you want Orr or Gretzky on your team that is okay, but you get them at their current age. Imagine each team gets a 2 week training camp. (For example, my roster has a now retired goaltender. 2 weeks to get in shape!)
2) You can only place a player on your roster if he played more games for your franchise than any other (regular season and playoffs combined). Tie breaker goes to the last team that the player played on.
3) The players must be at least 18 years of age or 2020 NHL draft eligible.
4) The player must have played in the OHL. You can’t claim a player that your team drafted but he never played for anyone. Again, he must have actually played for your franchise, and for that franchise longer than any other.
5) This is about franchises, meaning yes, North Bay can use Brampton players and so on…
6) Pick 12 forwards, 6 dmen, and 2 goalies.
Example. My submission for the Niagara Ice Dogs (fellow Dogs fans, feel free to scold me and make changes!)
Andrew Agozzino - Ryan Strome- Brendan Perlini
Phil Tomasino- Carter Verhaeghe - Akil Thomas
Ben Jones - Andrew Shaw – Kirill Maksimov
Ales Friesen - Ivan Lodnia – David Pacan
Vince Dunn - Alex Pietrangelo
Jamie Oleksiak - Dougie Hamilton
Kyle Quincy - Jesse Graham
Stephen Dhillon
Mark Visentin
Overall Niagara looks thin up-front and in net, but that top-4 Defense will be tough to beat.
