This is awesome!! Thanks for sharing. The crazy thing is, as great as Mario was in junior, he was even more physically impressive in the NHL when he filled out and his skating became polished. Look at him here in this video--he looked like Bambi skating around out there.

Amazing quality footage.

I know right!? Was 100% expecting it to look like the video was shot using a potato, but was pleasantly surprised with this. Clearly was shot using some high end stuff from back in the day, and not the regular camera they used to film games with (junior games werent normally filmed anyways).

man i forgot how skinny young pre-monster pads roy looked.

really interesting synchronicity between those two careers.

born on the same day as we all know

1985: calder for mario, calder cup for roy

1986: pearson for mario, smythe for roy

1989: peak statistical regular seasons for both guys

1992: consensus best forward and goalie in the game and no one would say different

1993: totally completely legendary peaks

2001: comeback seasons

2003: last real mario season, roy retires
