Don't know what Flyers team that you are watching. They are FAR from being good, let alone amazing.

A goalie can go a long way in making a team look great. They have plenty of offensive talent and a solid D core that is still young and growing.

I'm with you. Lots of teams aren't playing up to their potential, but that doesn't mean they can't be good. Philly has a seriously good team on paper, aside from the G position. Bob would cover some porblems, and some more growth from Provorov and others would make them look real good.

They would be crazy not to offer Bobrovsky a mega contract if he hits the open market.

All I hope is Bob stays in the metro. He is like having a secret agent extra player on the ice for your team in the playoffs. And if he handcuffs a division rivals cap in the process, all the better.

Bob on the Free market could hit 9M x 7 years. He could never have this in Columbus
He wants to do what Price did, but on the free market.

Hart is far far far away from a Stanley cup run, Philly should be high on him this summer.

Id' rather just wait until this summer and try to sign someone like Varly if he would accept a 3 year deal. If that doesn't work out I would see if they could sign Miller for a year or two. I know that's not idea but he's still a solid goalie and if he and Hart could split starts next year and then go from there I think it could work.

I'd also be interested in seeing what it might take to grab Crawford. They should be going into full rebuild mode and he certainly won't be around for the next wave in Chicago. With 1 year left on his deal the Flyers could get him for the rest of this year and to split time with Hart next season.

Seems like we've been hearing that for years.

The Flyers' rebuild has been slow and mainly via adept middle-late round drafting, rather than tanking for several years straight and lucking out on generational players, which another team from Pennsylvania was most capable of performing.

I'd offer him a 3-4 year deal with a massive AAV just to keep the term down so he's not standing in Hart's way too long.

Something like 4 years, $40 million.

Miller is an absolutely horrible idea. Crawford intrigues me. I still think he can be solid when he gets out of Chicago.

Bob is a good fit for the Flyers but the Flyers aren’t a good fit Bob unless they’re willing to pay crazy free agent money.
If they want him they should go after him right now and convince him to stay.

Ron Hextall was their last decent goalie I would say...

Vanbiesbrouck
Cechmanek
Esche / Niittymaki
Biron
Boucher / Emery / Leighton
Bobrovsky
Bryzgalov
Mason
Elliott

Please show me how Mason was not even "decent"... .944, .917, .928, .918, .908. 104-78-36 231 gp from 2013- 2017

Flyers used 31 goalies last 10 seasons. What an awful carousel... Cant make their minds up.

People have been telling them for years. Lousy job.

Look at Columbus. They know what they are doing. They used only .... 31 goalies last 10 seasons.

(And Phila had 5 guys who played only 1 lousy game, Jackets had 3)

Cool story, has nothing to do with them going after him this summer.

The only time I've seen the Flyers in person was in Detroit and Bob got the start in those brown pads. My buddy was playing for the wings at the time so we went down to watch and it was the game they tied the record for consecutive home wins.

Was crazy to go down after the game and see guys like Lidstrom and Zetterberg hanging out. Legends of the game.

The Flyers problem hasn't been that they never have decent goaltending. The problem is they haven't been able to get it from one goalie for a sustained period of time.

2000 - Brian Boucher was fantastic leading them to Game 7 of ECF against NJ.

2001 - Roman Cechmanek was fantastic, finishing 2nd in Vezina voting behind Dominik Hasek and 4th in Hart voting.

2004 - Robert Esche was fantastic leading them to Game 7 of ECF against Tampa Bay.

2008 - Martin Biron was fantastic, leading them to Game 5 of the ECF against Pittsburgh.

2014 - 2016 - Steve Mason finally solidified the goaltending for multiple seasons but had a falling out with management/coaching combined with nagging injuries and left as a UFA.

They have gotten quality goaltending, but they desperately need a franchise goalie to lock down the position for a good 5-10 years. They had a shot to have it with Bobrovsky but dropped the ball. Laviolette badly managed the goalies in the 2011 Playoffs and Ed Snider forced Paul Holmgren to throw a massive deal at who they thought was the best available goalie. Unfortunately that happened to be Ilya Bryzgalov. This led to Bobrovsky asking to be traded.

We are hopeful that Carter Hart can be that guy for us.

True for Bob but all the others who played in Phila have bounced around from team to team too.

Boucher first stint he played 3 yrs after 3 years in phoenix. 2nd stint 2 yrs and then he went to SJ 2 yrs and Car 1 yr.

Emery played 2 and then 2 in Chicago.

Elliot played 1 yr in Cal before joining.

Mason played 4 after playing 5 elsewhere.

Nittymaki 4 in Philly then 1 tbay and 1 SJ.

Biron played 3 in Phila then 1 yr NYi then NYR 4 yrs but played 46 games in 4 seasons.

The Bobrovsky was a huge mistake. Lots of teams make bad trades at some point.

Would like to see if injuries have not been BIG part of the situation. If someone has a better memory...

Miller went to the Ducks because his wife is a Hollywood actress and he wanted to be closer. That's why he has a modified no-trade list, something backups generally don't have.

Bob? Ehhh... no. If the Flyers are looking to hit hard in the postseason, the name that needs to be in net is Quick. Keep Hart in the wings, get him ready, keep Quick conditioned and healthy and let Quick own the postseason. I know he's an expensive stopgap but he's the real deal and would be a hell of a boon in terms of someone Hart could learn from, both in skills and mentality.

Bob is going to have a HUGE market for his services despite the rough season .

The guy is a 2 time Vezina winner I expect the likes of Calgary, Edmonton, Philly, Buffalo, maybe Vancouver, St louis, Detroit Florida etc all to be in on Bob with a similar market for Varlamov
