Game tonight after 4 days off. No GDT yet so until it gets put up figured we could use this to discuss tonight's upcoming game.

We will probably come out slow after some time off but should get better as the game progresses. We're becoming a pretty solid 3rd period team, never would have seen that coming.

Why Strome is staying on PP1:

Also per Vince, Laf, Chytil & Gauthier have produced the best xGF/60 of any line that's played at least 50 min together.

1. Vince reads @duhmetreE's passionate posts about replacing Strome with a lefty

2. Vince percolates story idea about replacing Strome

3. Vince approaches the PP1 group and questions the personnel on the power play

4. Said group pulls out the stats since Oct. 5 and sweet talks Vince, convincing him they're one of the league's best power play units

5. Vince writes article about why the power play group works, with the lead: "While fans have often debated..."

Flyers are basically a gong show as far as I can tell and you kinda never know what you're going to get but overall are a team the Rangers should beat

Ha Ha - might actually be accurate. Pretty much sums up VM's reporting - blowing in the wind.

He also had to get off his skepticism about getting tougher, protecting the skill players, etc. under much duress.

Haven't played in what feels like three months, we're all dying for a game...feels like an imminent letdown.
Sadly I feel like the extended layoff could lead to this.

Extra days off coming after the team had a few big wins and is feeling good about themselves, to me this SCREAMS getting outshot 18-3 in the first period.

Even better if Quinn also gets hit by a car.

Yikes, that's uncalled for.

Couple fun notes for tonight...

Fox v Panarin in the scoring race could be fun if it keeps this close for a while.

Jack Campbell is by far in the Vezina lead, but Shesty just needs to stay in that .930 plus range to be in the picture- he's top 5 right now.

Kakko and Strome are both killing penalties, but they are by far the least used pair up front of the three. Rooney and Goodrow does most of it, including the opening shift, and Zibanejad and Kreider are usually the next most used. Over time, I'd like to see Goodrow and Rooney split up, so that Kreider can play with one center and Kakko with the other. Mika, like Strome, should have his PK responsibilities lessened. Make Zibanejad-Strome the duo getting only a little PK time.

Has anyone wondered how Chytil or Gauthier might look killing penalties? Breakaway threats, at the very least.
