Weird choice. With Boqvist, Maatta, Beaudin, Carlsson, Mitchell, Regula, Tuulola and Vlasic all in the system and under 25 year of age, it's not exactly wide-open route to the NHL there.

There's room on the left side.

Boqvist and Mitchell, our best young defenders, are right handed.

Maatta probably gets moved or bought out for cap space.

Carlsson has been okay, but nothing special.

Regula and Vlasic will top out as bottom pairing defenders.

Tuulola is never making the NHL lol.

Beaudin is the only LHD with good upside.

So in reality it's not that crowded.

i don't recall Vesey ever being malcontent.
And he was pursued widely because he was free asset coming off a very strong senior year. Teams knew his size, his game, and his skill set.
