92 points with 4 games left, no back to backs, three non-playoff teams.
96 points is almost a lock (with Mrazek, anything is possible from losing all four to winning all four).
98 points would be a heck of a "rebuilding" season, given our goaltending.
Anything they do in the playoffs is gravy, the important thing is they're setting it up for a real playoff run next season.
If we could just find two goalies who'd give us an "average" NHL season (.913% or so) we'd be one tough team to face next season.

Be honest, after the Flyers traded Schenn, did anyone really think this team was going to get more than 90-91 points?

I had the Flyers at ~ 100 points at the start of the year. Adding Patrick, Lindblom, Sanheim and additions by subtraction via VdV and Bellemare, etc.

If flyers and Florida tie in points and ROW what would happen? It goes head to head right and if one team plays more home games then the eliminate the first home game for the team who was home more? If that’s the case flyers won first home game 5-1 and Florida won their 2nd home game 4-2? Then what?

I totally did, because of Coach, who rules and is very wise.

It's so weird to me that ppl keep giving the "overachieving" excuse. We've been "REBUILDING" for years now. Our cupboards are full. So yes, I expected a good team - we have a reliable goalie, tons of D talent and decent forward depth. The current roster doesn't showcase this but the only thing I thought we needed to add was another decent forward.

So, I suppose the current roster has overachieved. But as an organization, we didn't dress our very capable roster

you keep asking that, I keep answering, and you keep ignoring.

YES. Half the board voted the Flyers would be a playoff team this year when 95 points was the expected level to be at to reach the playoffs.

Now have we gotten there along the road as expected? No. Obviously most expected better goaltending than we got. But we got unexpected career years from G, Couts, Jake, Ghost and Provy. Not bad considering dumbasses were saying 2 of those guys were cap dumps, 1 was a 3rd line C and 1 was a 3rd pairing PP specialist.

So again, YES, lots of people expected 95 points this year or more to secure a playoff spot.

Edit: YOU EVEN SAID THIS ON OCT 4th: prediction- 95 points, on the edge of the playoffs.

No expected a goalie meltdown, given our goalie situation, I wouldn't have predicted more than 90 points and I doubt anyone else would.
I mean if I told you both Elliott and Neuvirth would go down, Stolarz would never return, and we'd be starting Mrazek and Lyon the last 23 games . . .

The unexpected year was from Giroux (relative to his two previous years at center when he was healthy), Couts was a 40+ ES scorer (prorated) the last two years and just turned 25, while he's probably having his peak year (58 ES points), it's not that unexpected. Voracek has bounced back, but 2014-15 is still his peak year. Ghost isn't a surprise, we all knew he was hobbled last year by injury. Provorov isn't playing better than his rookie year, different (more scoring, more bad turnovers).

The interesting aspect is overall Patrick, Lindblom and Sanheim haven't contributed that much: 14-24 38.
So look for a big jump next season.

People keep telling you how they expected the roster to be a playoff team yet you keep starting posts with "no one expected" or referring to our season as "overachieved"

one of those Florida/Boston games is a makeup for a blizzard earlier in the season. Florida has to play what 6 games in 10 nights? some of those against high level teams?
I would be shocked if the Flyers get to 96 points and they miss. Cant see Florida and NJ keeping this pace up.

Want to get playoff tickets but can't go to a game that falls on April 15th or 19th - 22nd so it's pretty tricky to buy any for the first round.

But the Flyers need to take care of their own business. :p:

We never really replaced Schenn on the PP:
Schenn 17-11
Couts 0-2 to 7-6
Patrick 3-3
Simmonds 16-14 to 11-16

But it didn't matter
2016-17: 54 goals, 19.5%
2017-18: 51 goals 20.0%

However, at ES:
Schenn 8-19
Konecny 8-16 to 22-20
Simmons 13-14 to 11-16

Trading Schenn allowed Konecny to move up the food chain

I’m not sure if we make the playoffs, but I’m feeling good about it. That said, it’s going to be nice to have one of those “X vs Flyers” playoff series threads on the main board. We should get more support than two years ago if it’s the caps. Always a fun part of the year. Looking forward to months of it in the near future, likely 2-3 weeks this year.

I am surprised at your affinity for Schenn solely based on the other players you typically vouch for. Do you think his loss is part of the reason you tend to think our roster is average?
