I doubt we could see more glaring proof of how terribad we have been at bringing D-men through than this. Nothing against Ghost, obviously, but he's just gotten started.

I will assume for the moment this website is correct with the info. If so, it is informative. Stats can be misleading based on the era, style of play but the Flyers also made some beneficial and lopsided trades to acquire the talent near the top of this list.

If Provorov scores 5 more goals this season, he'll already in in the top 20 for goals scored by Flyers defensemen all-time. If he manages to score as many goals as last year, he would be top ten.

No knock on Ivan, but that's pitiful. And everyone craps on us for goalies. Eesh.

 7th all time already with 41. Ouch.

Scoring D-Men have always had a short shelf life with the Flyers... Add Ghost's 41 Goals to Rico's Totals and you still don't reach Howe's... You have Howe at 138, Rico at 93 and then a bigger dropoff to Bladen at 67.

If Ghost can hold on and recapture his mojo, he should be able to climb up the ranks pretty well... but if he wears out his welcome and moves on, he'll be yet another trivia memory in Philly... I wouldn't want to stake the odds.

I'm trying to remember specifics, and will look it up after I post this (because I like to do things backwards lol), but for me Kerry Huffman represents the beginning of the three-decade slide our defense has been on. IIRC (very doubtful), he was basically the 7th d-man in 1987 (stationed in Hershey), but more relevantly the first guy to join the ranks after that 1987 group. That 1987 group was absolutely great and ticked all the boxes on defense, and Huffman - to me - was nowhere near up to their standards. That may be a little harsh, just like my opinion on Therien may be a bit harsh, but he was the Alpha of that funk whose Omega is Andrew MacDonald. And hopefully he really is the end of it. We will have to trade Hagg, I guess, for that to be the case. Fingers crossed. It would really be nice to be six strong back there again.
