Yes. The flyers have no problem finding diamond in the rough forward talent. It seems every year we have a surplus of talented young forwards. While it may not have worked out long term, the last time we signed emery and bit the bullet to trade for a #1 d man we had a cup appearence

Yes. The flyers have no problem finding diamond in the rough forward talent. It seems every year we have a surplus of talented young forwards. While it may not have worked out long term, the last time we signed emery and bit the bullet to trade for a #1 d man we had a cup appearence

karlsson is a number 1 dman too. So was our success based on a number 1 or the fact that the number 1 we had was Chris Pronger.

There are other sources saying Holmgren has talked to Doug Armstrong about Pietrangelo, that was "the troll" that said the price.

Pietrangelo could be eyeing a long-term contract similar to the deals Drew Doughty and Erik Karlsson signed out of their entry level status in recent years. There are similarities between Pietrangelo and the other two when you factor in the minutes he eats up with the Blues. Pietrangelo actually had better numbers than Karlsson after two full seasons in the league. His overall totals were better than Doughty as well after two seasons except Doughty was a Norris finalist in his second year in addition to being named to the Canadian Olympic team.

Doughty is currently on an 8-year, $56 million contract. Karlsson signed a 7-year, $45.5 million deal.
