The Philadelphia Flyers are going to acquire a defenseman before the April 12 trade deadline; it’s the worst kept secret in the NHL right now.
With a blue line that has been unable to recover the departure of Matt Niskanen before the season and some ineptitude coming from some new guys and returning veterans, the Flyers have been scouring the market for anyone that can fit into their top-four and provide some stability.
According to The Athletic’s Pierre Lebrun, that help might come in the form of Arizona Coyotes blueliner Alex Goligoski.

Update for those who didn't know he was still playing: Goligoski has played in every game this season for the Coyotes and is 2nd in TOI behind Chychrun.

I think there was a thread about a month ago that was something like Hagg + conditional 2nd for Goligoski with some retention.

It's funny that the main issue with the top pairing not replacing Niskanen, is actually that Provy has played poorly....not Ghost.

When Nisky was right, he gave the Flyers something they lack and that Ghost isn't. Someone dirty and subtle enough to make guys pay for their real estate on Hart's porch for 20 + minutes a night. IMO, He looked like a shell of himself in the bubble playoffs though.

Man, has there been a year where all of Philly's core players have been clicking? It seems that every year someone is having a down year on the Flyers.

Arizona and has been pretty solid.

I'd love to see the Flyers overpay with something like a second, but he's no longer solid, and he gets all those minutes because he is one of Tocchet's pets. He was never very good defensively, but at least was a consistent point producer. This season, he has 2 points in all those minutes through 26 games. Most Coyotes fans can't wait to see him gone.

Funny that he'd be seen as a replacement to Niskanen, since that's exactly who Dallas traded to get him.

.....It wasn't really seen as a great move at the time.

Let's see, does he have an affiliation with the word "Minnesota"?
Born there.

OK, he checks ALL of Fletchers boxes. Sold.

Nice way to build. :thumbd:
