I'm decidely average!

I had quite a few of the big climbers on my list, but having no third really pooched me since I played it safe in the second.

Ottawa 2019 Selections
17th - Thomas Harley, LHD, Mississauga (OHL) - 18, DAL (-1)
32nd - Nolan Foote, LW, Kelowna (WHL) - 27, TB (+5)

44th - Kaedan Korczak, RHD, Kelowna (WHL) - 41, VGK (+3)
85th – Tuukka Tieksola, LW, Kärpät (Liiga) - 121, CAR (-36)
94th - Nikita Okhotyuk, LHD, Ottawa 67's (OHL) - 61, NJD (+33)
125th - Alexei Protas, C, Prince Albert Raiders (WHL) - 91, WAS (+34)
187th – Kristian Tanus, C, Tappara Tampere (Liiga) - ND

First three picks were right where they went, next one was a big drop, then two big risers and capped it off with a ND.

Decidely average indeed!

I had a tough time deciding between Costmar and Schwindt for my last St Louis pick (206). Costmar wound up drafted but man, would Schwindt have been the right choice given where he went in reality.

Speaking of doing better than GM's, does anyone else keep track of who they would have selected at each spot in the draft? It's a fun exercise if you have a complete draft list and simply go BPA for each pick (not taking into account team needs or anything; strictly BPA without the hindsight of knowing who gets picked when). Here's how my draft would've looked:

14) Cole Caufield
34) Jamieson Rees
72) Maxim Cajkovic
103) Harrison Blaisdell
A 5th round pick would've been nice as I feel Patrick Moynihan provided incredible value here.
165) Nikola Pasic
169) Xavier Simoneau
196) Mitchell Brewer
If they had kept their second 7th rounder, Petr Cajka would've been my pick.

Only thing I’d have changed were my first 2 picks.
15) Caufield/Boldy/Brink (hadn’t seen any of him before the mock)
46) Kokkonen/Robertson

Fun idea. Since most of my Devils picks went earlier than I took them, it would force me to change things up a bit.

:devils
1- still Hughes, of course.
61- Albin Grewe
70- Patrik Puistola
80- Anttoni Honka
82- Domenick Fensore
96- Michal Teply
118- I keep the Devils' actual pick of Case McCarthy, because their board was super high on him.
127- Leevi Aaltonen
129- Isaiah Saville
158- Marshall Warren
189- Billy Constantinou

Much more forward-heavy than my actual draft and not a single CHL-er save for the undrafted Constantinou.

For the Blues :blues:
62- Mikko Kokkonen
93- Jordan Spence
155- Patrick Moynihan
217- Justin Bergeron

Tried to go chronologically rather than by team, so I started with the Devils at 61, then immediately picked for the Blues at 62 rather than go through each Devils pick and then each Blues pick.

17th - Thomas Harley, LHD, Mississauga (OHL) - 18, DAL (-1) - Stick with my pick
32nd - Nolan Foote, LW, Kelowna (WHL) - 27, TB (+5) - Switch to Bobby Brink

44th - Kaedan Korczak, RHD, Kelowna (WHL) - 41, VGK (+3) - Already selected, go with Jamieson Rees, who was picked there
85th – Tuukka Tieksola, LW, Kärpät (Liiga) - 121, CAR (-36) - Move my Protas pick up, even if it is a reach
94th - Nikita Okhotyuk, LHD, Ottawa 67's (OHL) - 61, NJD (+33) - Switch to Jordan Spence OR Michal Teply
125th - Alexei Protas, C, Prince Albert Raiders (WHL) - 91, WAS (+34) - Switch to Leevi Altonon
187th – Kristian Tanus, C, Tappara Tampere (Liiga) - ND - Switch to Dustin Wolf

The spectre of the KHL contract!

25. WHL Red Deer had an NHL draft-eligible centre from last season named Oleg Zaytsev. It was his first season in North America, and while he petered out as the year continued, you could see the potential. Zaytsev went unselected last weekend, mainly because teams heard he will be signing an entry-level contract with the KHL. (Those contracts are also three years.) But, don’t be surprised if someone tries to get him as a free agent, therefore holding his rights until a return.

This is why my miss went undrafted. Where was this KHL information before?!

Sorry for the delay in responding here....was in Lac Des Loups/Ottawa on vacation.

Not a great draft for fake Dale Tallon. Three players selected were undrafted, one good value pick in the 7th, but he should have stayed sober for better results.

Florida Draft:

1 - 13 - Peyton Krebs, C/LW, Kootenay (WHL) 17 (-4)
2 - 54 - Artemi Knyazev, D, Chicoutimi (QMJHL) 48 (+6)
3 - 69 - Dustin Wolf, G, Everett (WHL) 214 (-145)
4 - 104 - Martin Lang, RW/LW, Kamloops (WHL) Not drafted
4 - 106 - Graeme Clarke, RW, Ottawa (OHL) 80 (+26)
4 - 116 - Michael Vukojevic, D, Kitchener (OHL) 82 (+34)
5 - 137 - Jack York, D, Barrie (OHL) Not drafted
6 - 168 - Ludvig Hedstrom, D, Djurgardens U20 (SuperElit) Not drafted
7 - 199 - Aaron Huglen, F, Roseau (USHS) 102 (+97)
