Said it from Day1, Nick Foligno is a class act.

Guy would have easily been a fan favorite if he had been a player here closer to his prime.

As cliche as it is to say, m I think he’s undoubtedly a great “locker room presence” and at the very least over the last few weeks, has shown that he does still have the ability to put in an effective game. Who knows, he could be impactful come playoff time.

Easier to swallow these types of deals pre salary cap.

Case in point, Marty LaPointe.

Bad deal with the Bruins, but how much do we credit the development of Bergeron to his mentorship? And what’s that worth in terms of salary?

Congrats to Nick Foligno on 1,000 games in the NHL!

Drafted 28th overall in the 2006 Draft by the Ottawa Senators

Traded in 2012 to the Columbus Blue Jackets where he spent 9 seasons. He was their Captain from 2015-2021.

We will skip over his brief stint in Toronto.

Nick signed a 2 year deal with the Boston Bruins in July 2021. He has worn the A for a number of games for the Bruins alternating the 3rd A with McAvoy, Carlo and Pastrnak.

I understand the reservations, but a big Nick Foligno fan here. Thank you for celebrating his mark on the NHL.

I remember being psyched about the Lapointe deal as I was subjected to a ton of Red Wings games with my dad being a native Michigander and Wings fan. Always marveled at their talent throughout the 90s and felt lucky to be able to nab one of their FA’s.

It really didn’t “work out”, but you make a good point in regards to Bergeron and the salary cap. Lapointe was making 5 million a year if I remember correctly? It already turned out to be a disappointing deal, but would have been absolutely disastrous in the cap era. Do a CPI calculation, that’s equivalent to like an 8 million AAV deal now. Woof.

I read somewhere that when Lapointe went to Chicago, he offered to let Toews live with him like Bergeron did, and Toews declined.

Always knew Bergeron was the smarter of the two. ;)

I've always thought this- Patrice had the inner qualities but Martin Lapointe taught him how to be a professional hockey player. That mentorship has proven to be priceless.

It was 5 million a year. IIRC the first or second year he missed almost the entire season with an broken leg/ankle. That soured a lot of people and then when he reverted to form after scoring a ton of goals his last season w/Detroit he was the permanent whipping boy for the rest of his time in Boston.

Another effing Western Conference trip.

I’d be more than fine with playing these interconference games every other season. Play Chicago once per season. Alternate home and away.

Give me 6x against Montreal, Buffalo, etc.

Yeah, I still don't understand the reasoning the NHL sees behind every team playing every other team as much as possible. I don't consider the San Jose Sharks any less an NHL team just because the Bruins don't/shouldn't see them as much. It seems obvious to me that developing regional rivalries is a way better way to sell the game.

Again, maybe I'm missing something. What is the reason behind the league committing to doing this?

Hope they have a better showing then they did last week vs this team. Rather not have to hope for a last second Pastrnak goal in order for this team can pick up two points.

Yeah, its still pretty empty. I'd say about 30% of what it was pre-pandemic. I think this summer its going to pop back pretty strong though.....fingers crossed. At least you are getting some great weather while you are in town. I hope you are taking advantage of that.
