CALGARY (CP): As the new season quickly approaches, and with training camp in full swing, the Calgary Flames are pleased to announce the following signings:

From the prospects lists, Calgary has signed three outstanding young defenceman, Dan Hamhuis, Paul Martin and David Hale, and the forward Matt Bradley.

In addition the Flames have signed several UFA's that they expect to compete for positions next season. Amongst those signed are defenceman Kevin Dallman, Mark Giordano, Mike Weaver, Brett Clark, Joe Dipenta and Andy Roach. Goaltender Mike Morrison will join winger Pat Leahy in Omaha this season.

Asked if there were any other signings on the horizon, the General Manager, winked and noted that if Sean Keough doesn't win the next coin toss, a reference to losing the bidding on Rene Bourque to the Canucks, there might be one more signing on the horizon.

With the addition of all these defenceman, Calgary may be looking to move Jon Girard, Brad Ference or one of their other defenceman.
