Good energy guy. Wouldn't be surprised to see him slot into a BoA or two

CapGeek confirms the NHL salary to be $650k. A little less than what I expected. In the AHL, he gets $150k, and he's guaranteed $190k this year.

I expected 650k, but expected him to get closer to 250k in the AHL

so how does that guaranteed 190k work exactly? I've been seeing this more and more and never noticed it before last season. Is he guaranteed "X" amount of days on the roster to make up that extra 40k?

Or is it like the equivalent of a signing bonus but at the end of the season?

I guess, because if he spends the full year in the AHL, they would have to give him another 40k. The better question is, does that 40k count against the cap? If it doesn't, should it?

Great question, or would it not count since it's under the amount that can be buried in the minors anyways?

I agree. If he's in the AHL, I don't get how any of his salary of 190k can be applied to the NHL. I'm guessing NHL cap would just be 650k/82 x games played?

The cap is calculated daily. If there is 200 days in a season it would be 650k/200

Yep. My understanding is their last paycheck of the season will cover any remaining difference with the guaranteed amount.

Usually the guaranteed amounts are in the $250-350k level though, unless they're making sub-$100k in the A.
