Absolutely not for Calgary.

I can't see a single reason to make such a proposal as a Flames fan.

Stetcher is not needed at all, Gagner is a capdump and would remain in the AHL, and Markstrom is the very definition of an average starting goaltender and certainly not an upgrade on Smith.

sure, why not. I don't think Bennett is particularly good but he has potential I guess and we are gonna suck for a while anyways.

I wouldn’t want to trade another promising player to Vancouver like we did Baertschi. If Bennett is still sucking by the deadline I’d maybe consider his if Stetcher wasn’t part of the deal.

Markstrom would be the backup. He's also eight years younger than Smith.

Exactly, Markstrom would be the backup. Why are we trading Bennett for a 29 year old who has proven he is nothing more than a mediocre starting goaltender and certainly not the solution to our goaltending problems for the future?

Pretty lateral. Bennett>Gagner
Stecher ~ Stone
Markstrom>Rittich

Sad thing is Bennett isn't > gagner.
Bennett has not even hit 40 points yet
Gagner was a consistent 40 point player. Even during the lockout shortened year. Bennett had a 4 goal game ?
Gagner had a 8 point night. 4 goals 4 assists.
Gagner played with better players?
Bennett plays with better dmen and has had chances with Monahan and Gaudreau.
Bennett is not better than Gagner in any way.

oh really? age? contracts? who will be playing for 10 years and 40 points isnt even hard to reach, Gagner is old and slow, he wouldn't crack the Flames top 14, i'd play Brouwer before Gagner

Also this trade is repugnant.
If Calgary moves Bennett it's not for a lateral goalie move.

If 40 points isn't so hard to reach, why did Gagner do it in his first season and consistantly do it while Bennett has failed to reach 40 points in any of his seasons?

Gagner not an NHL player, so no he's not better at this time.

I’d rather keep Stetcher. I want Bennett though, how about 3rd+Hutton

We don't need another defenseman, and I'd rather keep Bennett then give him away for something that's not needed and a mid draft pick.

If Bennett turns into a good physical nasty third liner that can chip in, so be it.

Its not like he's making 6 million bucks a year so there's no real need to move him yet.
