Forbort will do just fine for the Flames. His offense skills are not that great but his defense skills are excellent. Long reach, breaks up many plays, good along the wall, good hands and good first pass, skates well for a kid his size, and is very athletic. Also, Forbort has played at least 200 games on the top pair. If his back holds up, he’s a steal possibly. He averages about 22 minutes a night, plays PK (number 1 in league a couple years ago), has a career plus minus of 10 or so on a team that couldn’t score. Only recently put back up on top pair, and had quite a weekend playing the Flames Thursday with high minutes against the top players, just played 16 minutes against McKinnon, and same or so against McDavid. He’s used to D zone starts, etc. Doesn’t need to be protected from a coaches standpoint. So don’t undersell him. He has value.

The same guys crying about this pickup are the same ones who cried about Stone being in the top 4 the last while. Doesn’t matter what Tre does, it’s always complaints

Replacing the worst player in the NHL with the 2nd worst player in the NHL and using a 4th rounder to do it is not an improvement.

Oddly enough, isn’t he kinda a defensive dman? Him and Gus almost seem like a natural pairing or him and Kylington maybe?

Is he a Engelland type?

He got more hate than he deserved from the Kings fanbase. He's pretty unspectacular but as long as he isn't a regular on the top pairing he's solid. Pretty good on the PK. Not as physical as you'd wish from a guy with his size but can throw some decent hits.
