Looks quite bad, but this is our 1997 without our best players.

Finnish team wasn't good, but they were better than Switzerland when I watched the first and second period. Too many mistakes for the Finns.

The czech goalie was really good.

How has Dahlen looked so far?

Really enjoyed watching him for Timra this year (he has been their best player from the games I have seen, and ofc his stats in Allsvenskan for a player his age on a team the level Timra have been are very nice) and he has always kicked into gear when playing for the Tre Kronor in the past and been impressive. (Hlinka & u18's)

Only saw the 2nd period vs Germany so far, was home in-between things for 30mins so flicked it on.

I have been quite impressed with Dahlen in the two games I watched..the knock on him is that he can't skate, but while it still need work..his skating isn't a big issue for me. Very smart, good along the boards, good vision, decent hands, excellent puck protection skills. Looks like he may be second-rounder...third at the latest.

Yeh, from watching him play for Timra I have not thought his skating was poor at all really. He makes people miss regularly in Allsvenkan and always seems very elusive/agile... maybe not so powerful but his technique seems sound, (no expert but it is not really ugly) and it usually seems that even if players are not 'rapid' so long as their technique is not ugly skating can be heavily built on.

Nice to know he is impressing again against his own age... though after Hlinka, u18 and this season in Allsvenskan I would have been a bit perturbed if he was not playing well.

Do you think a team could really fall in love with him and take him very early in the second? I mean... at both Hlinka and u18's he was better on the same team than pretty much everyone. (I would say Eriksson-Ek and Asplund were the only players better over both tournaments... he was better than Grundstrom, Ahl, Looke for sure.)

That's interesting, I thought his skating looked really good the times I watched him.

The only thing I can think of is that some do not love his speed/power... I mean, he is not rapid at top end. But apart from that I always thought his skating was pretty darn good.

His agility/evasiveness combined with his IQ is kind of like Giroux in traffic/when players try and engage him at times though, comes out of situations with the puck and without anyone touching him.

I must say though I have loved Dahlen since last year, he is a really enjoyable player to watch and I honestly think if he was two weeks younger and therefore a 98 he would be getting late 1st round consideration... I mean, Grundstrom is, and Dahlen has a higher upside IMO.

His assist totals should/would be higher for Timra as well from what I have seen, if it were not for him not really having much around him to work with. In the games I have seen he has created some very nice chances that team-mates have turned from great looks into nothing. Not too often an 18/19 year old is the best player on his team in the Allsvenskan really.

I can really see him becoming a good, 45-50 point 2nd line winger in the NHL if he keeps developing. He is already playing very well in a good pro league and has very little in the way of obvious flaws to his game. His floor is already realistically a 25-30 point top 6 SHLer for me.
