Not when you have an unstable franchise that changes it's direction every 3 months.

1- None of this was before the Turris trade
2- It's Melnyk's fault anyways

The way people around here engage in historical revisionism is pretty appalling.

It currently has the potential to be one of the best moves in franchise history. Up there with Spezza/Chara for Yashin.

Man people are so clueless. Sens save 5.3 million on this deal. A deal that had to happen. Do you think this is really what Dorion wanted? Doubtful. He's a job to do and he's paid to do it. His hands are tied. You think you would do better with Eugene? Maybe you are oblivious to how many great hockey minds have come and gone thank to Eugene. He is just doing what he has to do keep his pay check. Can you really blame him? I sure don't. Even if I'd like better deals etc it's truly not his fault the Ottawa mess.

Dorion was part of the management team that has given us: Michalek, Phillips, Greening, Cowen, Phaneuf, Brassard, Thompson and Burrows. He has traded away Zibanejad, Turris, Brassard, and many draft picks. He is not blameless!

He should not have been hired to be GM, nor signed to a 3 year extension. That blame lies with Melnyk.

Both must go.

I question whether we were ever actually very good at scouting. Puempel, Cowen, Lee, Noesen and the Rundt trade come to mind. And the "games played" metrics of scouting are always skewed for budget teams, which are more likely to ice cheap homegrown talent. The late round homeruns look more like luck than skill.

You just nailed it ! Particularly the games played metric!

Pierre is in way over his head. You would think a guy that has relevant experience & success as scout would be looking to add more draft picks before heading straight into a rebuild?

There's two trades on his resume that don't look like complete garbage at this point, and his FA signings and extensions have been particularly awful for the most part as well. The only part of his job he hasn't completely failed in is drafting... the one area he is actually knowledgeable at. So keep him there, go out and find an actual competent manager to turn this club around. This isn't even a Melnyk thing unless there's an incredible amount of shit being flung behind the scenes because some of these issues are simply asset mismanagement.

Hoffman isn’t a great hockey player so let’s not build him up to be one of the best Sens forwards ever now that he’s gone, he wasn’t, he’s a floater, unchoachabel, obvious locket room cancer and has no natural chemistry with anyone.

There is some truth to what you said but . . .

Not a “great” hockey player - ok not Gretzky/Lemieux/Howe/Yzerman type of great.

Floater - not all of the time but yes there is some evidence but not a complete floater

Uncoachable - no, but the floater aspect sometimes occurs

Locker rook cancer - no he is not. But there may be an issue with his partner but that is unproven at this time

No natural chemistry with anyone - no he achieved some with Duchene and has achieved some before.

I understand why a trade might be necessary but this trade does not look good at this time.
