Holland is not the problem, this is embarrassing

He sure as shit isn't the solution. Dude hasn't made an impact trade in like 2 decades. Longer than many peoples whole careers in hockey.

"What was he supposed to do?"

Is the same horseshit excuse people used to trot out for Craig MacTavish.

Do your f***ing job and bring in some good players.

Holland was a terrible hire from day one but then again what do you expect when you put nicholson in charge.

We were told he was going to come in and fix the cap, he responds by tossing out any cap space by handing out idiotic contracts like the one to kassian.

We were told, be patient he will build through the draft, He wastes draft picks left right and center on guys who did not help this team at all.

People got mad at me for calling him hollandaliini because he is tambo version 2. adding bottom pairing Dmen and bottom 6 guys each year that utterly fail.

His biggest sin bar none is his handling of the weakest part of this team since the day he got here that being goaltending. He actually made the situation much worse.

In any case he is going no where, no chance that katz would eat any money of that fat ludicrous gm contract.

He’s been very good for Montreal this year and the Blues last year. Instead we are hoping Smith plays like 2012 Smith and not like 2020 Smith.

Yes he's been playing well this year, Montreal has been playing good as a team as well though.

Last year he was a back up on the #1 team in the west and defending cup champs, he'd played well but in a limited role

He wouldn’t have to be the starter here but a capable backup so we don’t run our starter into the ground.

Holland built teams around Cup-winning goalies like Chris Osgood and old man Mike Vernon and outside Hasek, they never needed dominant goaltending so he's never had to find an elite 'tender in Detroit
then again, the Wings had Lidstrom and the Oilers don't

Jake Allen also played behind the Blues d corp and now the Habs d corp (probably best D corp in the division).

He'd get lit up here.

Why would you want him to sell the farm for right now? Like Benning did you mean? How far would this team go with a couple good pieces added?

A far smarter strategy is to shed bad contracts next season and improve incrementally. Make bold moves in 22 when you have cap and hopefully a more developed D core

There is no guarantee that all of them will vanish. Holland could very well extend at least one of them.
Sure but as it stands right now without even doing anything cap will free up. Larsson is also up that's another 4 million. Much as I like Markstrom I'm glad he turned down Holland's offer. I don't think big money goalies are something we need to shoot for.

Anyone that actually thinks this team was going go from basement to contender in a year and a bit is absolutely f***ing delusional and beyond any reasonable discussion. It doesn't matter who the GM is.

Good luck improving incrementally once Connor McDavid demands a trade out of Edmoton because the first 1/2 of his career has been wasted by back to back deadweight GMs far beyond their best before dates. It's a sad thing to think about, but that is coming. Sooner than anyone here wants to admit.

You will have McDavid and Draisaitl tune out by then.

Not good enough.

Trade your 2021 1st and 2022 1st even and go from there. Must get a no.1 goalie and top 3 D who can play now.

As Spawn helpfully pointed out, most of the contracts you mentioned were signed by Holland. Most of his depth signings have been complete ass.

Would like this if I could... unfortunately. It’s true and anyone who thinks otherwise is in for a rude surprise. I’d understand and even support McD demanding a trade first thing tomorrow. He’s given this team everything and gotten absolutely shit in return.

Zero issues with Holland. The ghosts of Chias past still Haunting us. Guy had almost zero cap to sign a top 4D, 3C, 2LW and a Goalie. He did what he could with what he had.

Turris was a low risk bet, hasn't paid off.

Barrie has been pretty good imo

He tried on Marky but he chose Calgary

Kahun is a pretty good add

Smith is a headscratcher but not many better options for less/equal cash. No doubt he has to fix this problem in the net and do it soon.

Lots of fingers to point but Holland doesn't deserve one Imo.

Acquiring one nhl goalie in the off season is hardly selling the farm. He didn’t even do that. Inexcusable. If he can’t get it done he needs to go.

I was hoping for Greiss or Crawford but they both signed for a hell of a lot more than I thought they would (and one retired).

That’s pretty much what it comes down to. Goal is the single most important position on any team. Holland’s failure there will be his legacy here if he is fired tomorrow (which won’t happen but should).
