Anyone got insights into this age group? Only mainly seen Pohjola-Leiri stuff some guys that stood out include the MVP Viljami Juusola offensive defensman with good skating and agility albeit small and lightweight. Another Kärpät defensman Arttu Kuivas looked really good there aswell and Jokipojat hulking defensman Atte Lehikoinen. From forwards I thought Samu Salminen was most noticable and dangerous forward he was the leading pointsman and All-star aswell. Niko Huuhtanen was quote on quote "interesting" aswell big bodied sniper with good hands but lumbersome skating, kinda surprising not to see him in the team. Brad Lambert I think only played one game there but his really good skater and skilled forward was also featured as the top Finn in Draftin Europe issue for 2022 draft. Rasmus Kuiri has been ripping it for Jokipojat in C sm a dangerous and profilic scorer. Samu Tuomaala leads B sm scoring and center Verner Miettinen done well there aswell, those are some of the guys that ive seen and impressed but should have better idea of this age group next week.

Germany leads 1-0 after first period. I thought Samu Tuomaala was by far the best Finn in first period. Highly skilled guy and dangerous also seems to have good compete and was quite physical aswell.

Finland wins 4-1 the first line was quite good Samu Tuomaala clearly best player, Verner Miettinen and defensman duo Juusola, Leskinen were good too. didnt think anyone stood out from the other 3 lines though Jauhiainen Roni had good moments and the goalie Helomaa had good 30 minutes

loving that first line I think we gonna hear those names often next few years and beyond. also the top4 defensman are pretty much who ive been impressed with would have liked to see more of Kuivas though. Surprise cuts in my oppinion are Jeremi Tammela and Jere Virolainen. Rasmus Kuiri and Ahonen Verneri didnt do much in game 1 to stick. Anyone know why Niko Huuhtanen wasnt invited to this event?

Oulu
Seems like a good group for centers. Both Virolainen and Tammela had good seasons so far and still were cut.

Noticed d-man Kalle Ervasti is missing, seems like moved to play for Olli Jokinen's junior team in Florida.

Something I can say is that Brad Lambert has some incredible hands. Was like watching MacKinnon on some shifts.

Jea I think closest Finnish compearable would be Kupari. Same right handedness really good skating and really good and soft hands and poise with the puck, though I think Lambert is much more advanced at this stage of development

Interestingly, some of the players listed these as their strengths in August:

Samu Tuomaala: Scoring
Samu Salminen: Leadership
Viljam Sandvik: Hockey Sense
Viljami Juusola: Smart
Saku Leskinen: Skating

Did they hit the mark?

Yeah, Lambert is a much higher end prospect in my opinion. And I think his hands are better than Kupari's anyway. Might be some similarities in play style. Still, I honestly don't think I've seen a Finnish prospect with hands like Lambert's. Speed like that I only see out of players like MacKinnon, McDavid. Actually, they're the two that come to mind right now. But I guess it's not quite that good, obviously.

Watching that game, I thought that Finland's best D by a mile was #3 Viljami Juusola. The only other D that was somewhat notable was #6 Aleksi Malinen, but I feel like he didn't quite have enough skill to do what he was trying to. Still, some good ideas and there might be potential there. Every other D, meh.

The best F to me was Brad Lambert, Samu Tuomaala was a bit of a disappointment. Some boneheaded decisions. Samu Salminen pretty invisible. Other than Lambert, I also liked Viljam Sandvik. He made some impressive, quick little plays with very little time and space. I think that that's something that would translate well. A few players who I didn't really like were Rasmus Ruusunen and Sisu Yliniemi. Ruusunen either has bad vision or bad IQ and Yliniemi can't skate.
