How would that be? There was a lot of sense from team's succession's point of view to bring in JP and Aho mid-tournament to their respective WJC U18's. At that level an offensive superstar is often a true gamechanger.

That was different situation and Puljujärvi didn't have big role in Kärpät 2015 liiga championship winning team.
But Kakko is 1st line RW for TPS and his role is big and being honest Kakko doesn't have nothing to prove in U18 WJC's anymore.

Let him play good or very good liiga playoffs and help TPS winning liiga championship title.
And after liiga playoffs let him show his best in IIHF men's world championships.

Kakko's situation to U18 WJC's is same than Patrik Laine's situation was 2016.
And despite missing Laine 2016 U18 WJC's Finland still won gold medal.

Why same can't happen next April without Kakko?

I would take Kakko to the team even if he can't play the whole tournament.

Look that roster what TPS has it's SM liiga championship caliber.
Kakko's situation is same what Laine had in 2016 liiga playoffs.

Laine was Tappara's key player in 2016 liiga playoffs just like Kakko is in TPS this season.
Finland didn't get Laine in 2016 U18 WJC's due to liiga finals and still won gold.
Tell me 3 really good reasons why same can't happen without Kakko next April.

TPS won't release Kakko to U18 WJC's if / when they go liiga finals.
PS Kakko doesn't have nothing to prove in U18 WJC's he's locked TOP2 pick and every scout knows it.

Kakko will play in world championships next spring.
But it'll be IIHF men's worlds in Slovakia next May not U18 WJC's.

Of course they won't if he is still playing. I was talking about if his games end with TPS I wan't to play for the U18 even if he has "nothing" to
prove. It is still the last games with the U18 national team and an opportunity for him to get his second U18 gold. Mens WHC is possible but I don't see any reason why he couldn't play with the U18 national team if his games end and he doesn't play with mens national team.

I don't agree with TPS having a SM-liiga champions caliber roster, the favourite is still Kärpät.

Actually there's 3 favorites ( Kärpät, TPS, Tappara ) to win SM liiga championship this season.
Of course if TPS gets eliminated early in liiga playoffs then Kakko will join Finland's U18 WJC team.

But i just don't see that as a guarantee Kakko will play U18 WJC's.
I'm sure Finland will get good or very good team next April's U18 WJC's even with Kakko or without him.

Of course it is not a guarantee. But if he is available, I wouldn't complain about him playing. We will get a good team for sure.

I wonder who be joining in from NA?

Kallionkieli,Kiviniemi,Rafkin,Thomson
- Sillanpää?, Rannisto?

A lot depends on that how many Finnish players goes to USHL and CHL playoffs.
Rannisto is overage player ( born 2000) so he can't play in U18 WJC next year.
Also Thomson is overage player but he's U18 WJC gold medalist already ( played U18 WJC's this past April)

Most likely players who might come to U18 WJC's from North America are
Kari Piiroinen G ( Windsor Spitfires OHL)
Marcus Kallionkieli LW Sioux City Musketeers USHL.
Ruben Rafkin RD Tri City Storm USHL

Joonas Sillanpää and Joona Kiviniemi are also possible additions to U18 WJC roster.
But if their CHL teams goes to playoffs the probably won't come.

Don't also count out Wiljami Myllylä.
He's been very good in HIFK A juniors and he's HIFK's top scorer.
Myllylä is Finland's U18 roster in 5 nations tournament in Switzerland

Both Rannisto&Thomson are eligible to play u18 wjc as "over agers"
due to the fact that its their 1st draft eligible year next year (late birth date).

Miettinen scored actually 3+2 in the first game.

Today they beat Switzerland 6-3, Miettinen 1+1, Tuomisto 0+2, Tieksola 0+2. Aku Räty 2+0.

Aatu Räty "only" 0+1 but was a standout.

If Aatu Räty can dominate U18 WJC¨next April like Jack Hughes
this past April he'll make himself potential 1st overall in 2021 draft.

I'm not seen Räty's games
but those points what he's scored in Kärpät juniors are incredible for a player of his age.
Hopefully Räty stays in Oulu and won't even consider to go USHL or CHL.
