who cares about all this Canada/USA stuff, we all know Canada is better at hockey and that is all that matters here :yo:

anyways but to the NHL i think the earliest this lockout can end is friday

The NHL SURE moves alot faster than the NBA. The NBA figured out a settlement was in every one's best interest and made it happen. Why is it unreasonable to ask the NHL to do the same? Yes, end it, but stop making excuses.

The NBA isn't making up an entire new CBA...the NHL is.

That's fair, except who says the Rich guy has the right to take the law into his own hands? That should be a job for the Police to do (UN) and if they don't, then there's a good reason behind it.

Exactly. You don't rush into the guys house, kick his ass, and burn the house down. Imagine if somebody did that because they felt you didn't walk your dog enough.

Yeah I guess it takes a freakin year to reach a simple agreement. A couple months at most maybe but a year? For the love of god how can you defend the nhl and nhlpa?

I'll try and clear it up for you. Now pay attention, fella. The US rushed into Iraq, jailed Hussein (kicked his ass in my metyaphore), burned the place to the ground, all vigilante style. Police? Who needs police when you can be a vigilante? Who needs the UN when you can rush into a war all alone and cause a massive cluster****? Get it yet?

What is the US going to say when Russia decides to invade kazakhstan because they claim to have WMD? The US is allowed to go it alone with no reasoning, so why can't Russia. Let's all be vigilante's! Yeah! World War 3! Yeah! :yo:

A CBA with several contentious issues is anything but simple.

I did a deal once that was so maddeningly complex it took two years to complete and sign. Every time an issue was resolved, three more popped up. Then, when we resolved those three issues, the original issue came back up for renegotiation in the new scenarios created by the resolution of the other three issues. Even if renegotiation was not always necessary, the original issue's resolution always had to be vetted again to ensure it still made sense. And on and on it went. So yeah, I can defend them.

I think your misconception may be with the word "simple". Far from it. This is tricky stuff.

Spungo, they didn't rush in. They gave Hussein ample time to remove himself from office. Burned the place to the ground? How so? When has the UN ever done something that truly needed to be done? The bureaucrats get in the way of helping people. Iraq was a cluster**** from the get go, you just didn't hear about it when Saddam was in power. And how was the U.S. alone? How many nations made up the coalition? Get it yet?

I have a strong belief that the U.S. would do as Russia did when the U.S. went to war with Iraq, condemn it and not send troops to help, so what's your point?

Guess you missed "shock and awe". What little was left after that has been blown up due to the massive security vacuum the US created that's been filled with terrorists.

It wasn't anywhere near the cluster**** it is now. Not anywhere near. The US went in for WMD's that didn't exist. Hindsight is 20/20, but that is a mistake that is unforgivable.

The only real country was England. Australia donated a surf board to the cause, right?

Really? So if Russia started invading foreign countries, the US would stand idly by and watch it happen? Good to know.

This is what is taking so long

The last collective bargaining agreement, negotiated to end a 103-day lockout in January, 1995, was based on a 10-page memorandum of understanding signed by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA executive director Bob Goodenow. It took negotiators from both sides until early August of that year to draft the actual 150-page collective agreement.

The new deal, according to sources, will be upward of 600 pages as the league attempts to plug any and all possible loopholes that could result in renewed salary escalation.

2004-05 contracts will

One of the people who insisted on anonymity said last month that both sides had agreed that the 2004-5 year on player contracts "would disappear."

May be it's me, but what does it mean "would disappear" ?
"disappear" means that contracts willn't count like no season = no cotracts or it means that contracts will count despite there was no season and all will forget about them as soon as posible. Just don't undertand it.

The current Iraq war is completely unjustifiable and not joining up with the Americans is one of the few reasons I'm proud of my country. WMD, yeah right. :shakehead

There's a lot to be ashamed of Canada for; our socialist and corrupt goverement being the biggest.

Once again, Mr. Double Standard shows up. Maybe you should buy yourself some reading galsses as there are about 20 other people all talking politics and I was pretty much the last one to give my 2 cents on the matter.

P.S. Don't tell me what to do, tough guy.

I'm not sure what galsses are, and don't really care about other people's political comments. They don't make training-bra-wearing jackasses of themselves every day like you do, spunko.

This is all so entertaining ..thanks!
Who needs re-hashed news about a meeting possibly being held or not when you got this stuff!?
Spungo certainly has gotten the goat of some of the posters here, honestly it's quite musing.

Just wanted to share that, I'll go back to the wallflower setting now :sarcasm:

It's not too late to jump on the Spungo bandwagon, brah. I've already got a Mod and about 2 other posters as my disciples. The doors to the wagon close on July 15. If you don't like the taste of humble pie, I suggest you join up before it's too late.

Your "disciples" are no doubt strangely reminiscent of your "girlfriends" from the ladies section of the Sears catalogue, n'est-ce pas??
