Git er done! (as Larry the Cable guy would say)

For all we know it may already be done. They would not announce tonight. Half the country is in another state, the other half drunk at a picnic. Even if they had an agreement, they would announce tomorrow.

Well at least we don't disgrace our allies and run out on them when asked for support. Canada=The New France. I used to smile and sing the Canadian anthem at all games. I suspect there are many who are ashamed of Canada for their actions. I know I am.

Sorry for not supporting an illegal war. :shakehead
And are we even allies? Funny how I seem to remember Bush not even mentioning us after 9/11 in his address.

The current Iraq war is completely unjustifiable and not joining up with the Americans is one of the few reasons I'm proud of my country. WMD, yeah right. :shakehead

There's a lot to be ashamed of Canada for; our socialist and corrupt goverement being the biggest.

Then again, for all we know, it may be another 2-4 weeks that runs into another season. The greed of either side has won out so far...Maybe they are just going to announce that the NHLPA & Board of Governors have agreed that the lockout ink pens will be black ink and not blue ink. This agreement of course almost led to the NHLPA walking out. Tempers were calmed when free samples were passed out.

Have they really even talked about the salary cap yet?

Picture a group of friends. You got the rich, arrogant yet somewhat dull-witted guy, the cool, calm collected guy, and the guy who just does everything the rich guy says to be cool.

Rich guy: Guys! I just got this great idea! But I'm going to need your help! Basically, there's this guy who kinda pissed me off the other day. My idea is to go over to his house, kill his family and burn down his house! Nobody will care, he's an ******* anyways.

Follower guy: Gee golly! That sounds like a great idea! I'm in!

Rational guy: Um...Maybe you should think about this for a second...You know, murder and arson is kinda illegal...

Rich guy: You're a damn wuss! You won't support me? You must be HIS friend! You're a disgrace! I'm ashamed to be your friend!

Now, try and guess who is who!

I can personally testify that the weapons are not in Iraq, but rather in Mexico. See, I just got back from Cancun. Now, they tell you not to drink the water, but they don't make it clear that the salad has been washed in Mexican water. Anyways, during that trip, I learnt alllll about the weapons...And the guys I travelled with can back me up...

Mexican water is an Weapon of Ass Destruction.

A smart guy said to me a couple of weeks back . . . hockey is more important than politics. How could I argue with that? And he was a commie like the rest of you . . . ;)

Seriously though, there is a politics board down the street. I have enough that I disagree with most of you about to now bring politics into the equation.

Sorry, folks, but this is dragging on longer and longer and longer to the point where every week we start to feel it is the end, and we just get the same old "maybe next week for sure" response by Friday. I for one am fed up with it and I won't believe a damned thing until it is signed, sealed and delivered.

We're all saying "we'll have the NHL in October", but until this deal is officially and legally completed, we have a non-operational NHL. Sorry to spew my pessimism, but I'll believe it when I see it. :dunno:

I won't believe it either until it's written in stone. I'm pragmatic and very detail-oriented, so I need more than a 'maybe'. But even I have to admit that every sign is pointing towards the end of this lockout within a matter of days. Separating truth from fiction can be tough at times, but this isn't one of those cases.

I've actually been optomistic for a week or so now. And today certainly didn't diminish that optomism. I'm in Nashville for the time being, and I went to a little July 4th barbeque with a friend of mine who works at Comcast Sports here. He works with and knows most of big shots in town that work in sports; major leagues, minor leagues, colleges, and so forth. Last week, he talked with Pete Weber (Preds play-by-play man) about the lockout. Weber is very well known and respected in the hockey community, so he hears a hell of a lot more than we would. He said that the announcement is coming sometime this week.

For me, it's a second hand source. For you, it's a third hand source. But I know and definitely trust those two sources. However I don't expect that you will take my word for it; I hope you would but I haven't been that naive for a long time. So I'll just say take this for what it's worth.

Illegal? So you think it is ok if Iraq bullies neighboring countries amasses tanks on borders, supports terrorism, and generally swings in our direction? What would Canada do if Toronto was blown up? Just say, wow, we can't engage in an illegal war? Canada supported Desert Shield, so you know what this is all about. Get yourhead out of the sand and stand up for your neighbors. People cry out to the US all the time to stop oppression and promote democracy. When we do it is illegal. When we don't we are labeled as careless and self-absorbed. The fact is we advised Iraq whart we were going to do. Gave them time to changeand follow agreed upon conditions. They chose not to. They chose wrong.

But you have to picture this. The ******* has beaten his wife and his kids on numerous occasions. The wife and kids are scared to death of him, and no one seems to be willing to help them until the rich guy comes along. Is it right to kill the ******* and burn down his house? No. Is it right to go in remove the ******* and free the wife and kids and try and rebuild his house? Yes.

Did you know that the lockout could end tomorrow? Or sometime this week?

You mean the Iraqi tanks? Yes and we destroyed them. Seems as the A-10 works pretty good after all. Or do you mean the political oppression the degrading and raping of women and the documented evils of the Saddam regime? These come not just from US Sources. Yes we have ended those. We are also supporting the development of the young democracy in Iraq. It is costing us lives. We oppose those who want to bring terror and go back to the mindless regime. Decent people do these things.

That's fair, except who says the Rich guy has the right to take the law into his own hands? That should be a job for the Police to do (UN) and if they don't, then there's a good reason behind it.

Canadians exhibit the same sentiments that cause people not to be able to agree on a hockey settlement. They don't seem to care what is best for the majority.
