Have to imagine that's $1.75 AAV. That's awesome! Great signing.

Next up: Bennett 2 X $2.5 per!

I read that as 3.5 AAV and I almost had a heart attack. But 1.75 is fantastic

Fair but doesn't buy any UFA years if I'm not mistaken.

Based on Friedman's 30 thoughts, this now opens the door for that depth forward signing Treliving has been hankering for. Hopefully it's Iginla.

Correct on that part.

Hopefully Tre can sign Bennett to a 3 year bridge, that way he doesn't come up at the same time as Tkachuk & Ferland.

Not a big deal in my opinion. If Ferland doesn't step up more and show he can produce at a consistent rate, he might not even be re-signed after this deal is up (depending on his contract demands). A two year deal gives him a chance to prove he can be more than a 3rd line winger. If he fails, Calgary has guys who will be waiting for that chance.

Splendid. Exactly the term I wanted at significantly less money. Tre is the man.

I think it would've been worth the risk to try for ~2 million for for years, but this is totally fine. Lower risk, and although Ferland is great, it's relatively unlikely he puts up such gaudy numbers that his price is too great once it's up (with his best case performance over two years I would imagine his AAV for the next contract would be between 3-4 million).

Good deal. Term is also very good if an extension is being explored. Worst case scenario, the contract is a good TDL contract to dangle as well, though I presume Ferland will continue to add to his play and rake in another excellent contract after this one.

Solid. He either proves he's worth more and we're happy to pay more in 2 years or he stays at 30 point forward and 1.75 is a good deal.

If this ends up being $1.75M AAV, that's a good deal. Anything over $2M for Ferland is an overpayment based on his current body of work right now. But that's been hashed out to death haha

I thought it was 3.5 per at first I was kinda like, say what? Would have liked a longer term deal but nothing wrong with this and it's totally market value.
