At least in the German legal system, a suspect of illegal sexual conduct with minors will get a lesser sentence if he confesses, since he will spare the minor the rigors and possible additional traumatisation of making a statement in trial. I think this is a good idea for the sake of the victim, which may very well be some unwritten rule in Florida as well. At least it would be an explanation for Vasquez' quick confession. If true, this guy will never pitch in the USA again and face a harsh sentence - and deservedly so.
