Been into true crime mob history books lately. Nick Pileggi's Wiseguy and Casino are up there for me. Both were of course the source material by Scorsese for Goodfellas and Casino. Also for Canadian mafia history, The Sixth Family: The Collapse of the New York Mafia and the Rise of Vito Rizzuto is a solid investigation into the history of Canada's most powerful crime family.

check out "The Lufthansa Heist". Goes fully in depth into the planning, the heist and the aftermath. Personally I liked it even more than Wiseguy and Casino. It was cowritten by Hill

last non fiction is my current favorite: "Space Odyssey: Stanley Kubrick, Arthur C Clarke and the Making of a Masterpiece" by Michael Benson.

It's gotta be the best and most in depth behind the scenes look at the making of 2001. It covers from when Kubrick and Clarke first had the idea for a collaboration through the movie's premier. It is very detailed and I doubt there's much from the 5+ year process that wasn't covered. Also does a great job showing how they came up with all the incredible effects shots and the work that went into it all.
