Hasek.

This one comes down to the entertainment factor. Brodeur was great, but not exactly electrifying on the ice. He was efficient, consistent, and smart. But Hasek was fun. The mad scrambles, the unorthodox and unexpected saves. He was just so fun to watch.

Brodeur is a bit overrated at times. yes winning 4 Vezinas in 5 years is impressive but there was a lack of high end goalies that he benefitted from. Didn't start winning Vezinas until Roy/Hasek/Belfour were either retired or out of the league. Competition was much easier in the first decade of the 2000's.

I mean, his numbers in 96’-97’ for example would have won it every other year were it not for Hasek, which is kind of the point. Of course he dominated after they retired, he was a top goalie playing during an era with several.

Hasek easily. Most entertaining goaltender to watch ever and he won a Stanley Cup in the net for my favourite team.

Maybe his peak wasn't as high as Hasek or Roy - but I don't think his consistency can be ignored.

Just look at the NHL these past ~10 years. There's so much turn over at the goalie position. Goalies go from great/vezina contention one year, to horrible the next year, etc.

Brodeur has 13 seasons in the top 5 Vezina voting. That's absolutely incredible value to a franchise.
Roy only has 10 seasons in top 5, Hasek 7 seasons.

I think Brodeur actually gets underrated at times. He's not on Roy/Hasek level, but I don't think he's very far behind.

This is a really hard choice. Both of them were a ton of fun to watch, and had their unlikeable moments as well. Went with Hasek mainly because he was must-watch TV for several years. But there's no wrong answer here.

Agreed that it would have made a good final.

It should be easy in the likability rate. Not the guy who got with his wife's sister

Hasek allegedly broke the other player's nose, and knocked him unconscious after hitting him repeatedly with his hockey stick during a game in a Czech in-line hockey league in May.

Do we really need to do this?

I see what you're saying but Vasilevsky has one Vezina so far and the competition (up until this season) hasn't been that much better.

You're underrating how hard it is for a goalie to be consistent enough to pull off that many Vezinas.

He did play for a great team but so does Vasy. Vasy's young of course I'm not saying he won't win more Vezinas.

Those commercials probably caused me to go from kind of disliking him to hating him
I mean What NHL player would have been better? At least Brodeur has a personality. Those commercials could have been much much worse IMO

Hasek. He was much more fun to watch, and wasn’t known for cheating on his wife with his sister-in-law.

In general, I think Hasek is one of the most likeable goalies to ever play the game.
