Why did we move a LD for a RD? Does this mean we're not resigning Petro? How do we afford this? I mean, I would much rather have Petro, but if we can't resign him do we trade him?
I’m really confused. Like it, but confused.
We are completely stacked but yeah I’m not sure what direction we are going.

The Hurricanes have also sent a 2020 fifth-round pick to St. Louis. In exchange, St. Louis is sending defenceman Joel Edmundson, prospect Dominik Bokk and a 2021 seventh-round pick to Carolina.
Faulk, 27, is entering the final year of a six-year, $29 million contract and carries a cap-hit of $4,833,333 million this season. After the trade was completed, he agreed to a seven-year, $45.5 million extension with the Blues that carries an average annual value of $6.5 million.
“We are excited to add Justin to our core group for the next eight years,” Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said in a statement. “He’s a top-4 defenceman who averages over 23 minutes a game and we are confident he will be a strong addition to our club.”
Faulk has played his entire eight-year career with the Hurricanes after the team selected him in the second-round in 2010. A right-shot, power play specialist, Faulk has scored at least 31 points in each of the last six seasons and hit double-digits in goals four times.
Faulk’s name has been in trade rumours in the past, but after the Hurricanes signed Jake Gardiner to a four-year contract earlier this month, those rumours got louder. Notably, a trade with the Anaheim Ducks was “intensely discussed,” but Faulk had the Ducks on his partial no-trade list, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
More to come.

What the hell just happened? The only way this makes sense is if we think Petro isn’t going to stay.
That said we are f***ing stacked defensively this year.
Not super high on Faulk, but it didn't look like Eddy was going to be here next year regardless, and I'm OK hitting the ejector seat on Bokk as he took a pretty huge step back last season. Looking on to next season, it looks like Bo will be competing for the 6/7 D role.
Wow. Didn't see this coming. What does this mean for Petro? And aren't we now significantly over the cap for this year? Is there another shoe?
Can he play left? Are there more moves coming? What does it mean?!
I'm confused and scared about Pietrangelo.
I'm afraid this means Petro will walk next summer or the sides are very far from each other money-wise.
Faulk seems like a fine addition though and the extension is not that bad at all. I wonder if Kostin's pre-season made Armstrong confident enough to trade Bokk.
I fear this means Petro is as good as gone next year.
Our left side is really thin now. Does this mean Mikkola makes the roster?
This just doesn't make sense unless this is Petro's last season as a blue. 6.5M to pay Faulk as your middle pairing RHD (3rd if Petro is back next season) seems like an expensive contingency plan. I really want Petro back but how is that even possible now? I'm happy about the trade but sad in what this may mean in the long run...
I guess he would definitely be the next up if there is an injury to either Dunn, Gunny, or JBou
6.5 for Faulk is a pretty bad deal in general.
Can’t see it. Borgman or Pouliot are ahead of him IMO.
But we still have 7 defensemen so I still don’t think either of them make it.
I guess Bortuzzo is gonna get scratched all the time?
This officially makes us "jerks west".
Seriously, wonder if this means Petro is done here, and what do we do about the left side?
No lie, Parayko and Faulk alone on the right sounds awesome.
Well this better fix the powerplay. I mean it’s a great deal for this year. But I’m assuming Pietro or Schenn are as good as gone. If Pietros gone we better make damn sure Parayko has a lifetime contract.
He actually can and has played both side. Played a lot of left side last year as Canes were so stacked on right.
I'm good with the price to pay to acquire him.
I'm so-so on the extension.
I'm terrified of what this means for Pietrangelo.
