Shawn Belle was fastest in 2003, Eric Staal was up there too I believe.

Brett Carson is another speedster from 2004.

As for the others, I'd say the notables have been mentioned.

People who haven't seen Duncan Keith skate... will have to alter their rankings once they do.

I know i've said it on these boards before, but in the Blackhawks camp last season, I watched him skate stride for stride with Steve Sullivan on a breakaway.... *BACKWARDS*.

He never turned. And I've never seen anyone do that, and Sullivan was motoring.

Sullivan in the middle of the ice, Keith starting from the Right point, and he caught him...

Keith may never have the size to make it in the NHL as a dman... but he is as good a skater as anyone I have ever seen.

Trevor Daley was considered the fastest of the 2002 draft..
I'm not sure he was considered the fastest, but he was definately one of the best skaters.

Though he is fast.

I'm pretty sure RLR's ranking of fastest skaters in 04 went #1 Lisin, #2 Salmonsson and #3 Guggisberg.

I know that's how 1 and 2 were, Robbie Earl might have been #3, but I think he was #4.

Sergei Soin. He was drafted in the second round based on two things: the fact he could play forward and defence, and that he was incredibly fast.

Actually, yeah, it might have been one of the two. Either he was considered the best or the fastest skater, but from what I saw of him, I think he could beat Mike Modano and thats saying a lot.

Koltsov is def one of the fastest I have ever saw. Hopefully he makes the all-star team in the coming years so we can see him in the "fastest skater" contest.

What is so funny about that?
Koltsov is definately "THE FASTEST" player drafted in the last 5 years.
The thing about Koltsov is that he has potential to be a 1st line winger and an allstar but he may never reach it.
In my opinion he's gonna be a fantastic 2nd or 3rd line player for a long time that makes things happen with his speed and chips in clutch goals.
The reason I say third line player is that along with speed and skill he's a very gritty player that takes care of his own end pretty well.
But you are way offbase laughing at the fastest skater at the skills compatition comment because if he does reach his potential the guy will be winning that event by a landslide for years.

He was laughing at the fact someone said he will be an allstar, thats pretty obvious. No one disputes he's the fastest.

Keith Primeau made it last year, soooo..............

 yea keith primeau is very overrated, and this is coming from a big-time flyers fan. he had a great playoff run but he is just not all-star material at all.

He said hopefully he makes it, not that he will make it.

I hope he makes it at least once just so he can show Joe Six Pack just how fast he is.

I've never seen a player as fast as Koltsov in my life. Rico Fata is one of the fastest players in the league and Koltsov makes him look like Kevin Stevens in comparison.

Who's to say he won't?
