Adam Pelech is becoming an RFA I believe.l this offseason. If the Isles can’t afford to keep him is he a potential target to partner with Hughes?

Apparently hes been sucking ass lately, is it the Buffalo syndroam or does just suck now? I dont trust Bennings pro scouting anyways so not sure how to feel about thatBrandon Montour is available from Sabres, wonder what the ask is. He's someone we should be all over
First Benning/Brod need to be replaced before any trades. These two are proven losers in evaluating return. With LTIR, long haul covid, quarantines and the compressed schedule, the few selling teams that have players on expiring deals that can ship the players now are going to get above market returns. There are very few teams that can afford to deal a player and not get a guy back for more than two weeks. The market for players like Benn is growing by the day. That's not me being an optimist, that's me understanding the realities of the the market. Virtanen, Sutter, Benn, and Pearson. That should be the priority list of departures.
Florida, St Louis, Buffalo, New Jersey, Boston, Arizona, Calgary and Pittsburgh are likely looking for some help. Anaheim could be on that list for a younger player like Virtanen.
Zero interest in trading Gaudette. Our center depth is dire.

Agreed with everything but the Gaudette bit. He’s not an nhl Center and isn’t good. With LTIR, long haul covid, quarantines and the compressed schedule, the few selling teams that have players on expiring deals that can ship the players now are going to get above market returns. Would make a nice sweetener possibly to clear a salary.
You can acquire nhl caliber 3C’s for $1-2.5m easily in ufa these days.
Agreed. I think he would be a great pickup.Would be all over targeting Scott Laughton this offseason as a 3rd line center if the price was $3M per year or less. Would provide twice the skill of Brandon Sutter and 20 times the sandpaper.
This doesn't make any sense. The teams they are restricted to playing had a better record last year than the mean of the league and a few of them made significant additions.

Oh yes, the Canadian division is craperolla. And we are the bottom of the crappiest.Your comment included the words “The teams they are restricted to playing had a better record last year than the mean of the league ...” That’s incorrect. The teams the Canucks are restricted to playing were below the mean last season.
The mean pts% of the league (see table) was .558. It is .558 whether it is calculated for each team individually and then averaged, or totalled and calculated as a whole.[TBODY] [/TBODY]

The results of the teams the Canucks are restricted to playing this year is worse than the mean of the league’s results.
I'm not going to analyze additions and subtractions, but on the face of it 420's point stands.
Correct. I thought I remembered differently. The question becomes whether a difference that small, assuming it carries over, is likely to produce a significant effect on teams playing that cohort.Your comment included the words “The teams they are restricted to playing had a better record last year than the mean of the league ...” That’s incorrect. Would be all over targeting Scott Laughton this offseason as a 3rd line center if the price was $3M per year or less. Would provide twice the skill of Brandon Sutter and 20 times the sandpaper.
not if your GM Benning,,he would find us another Brandon Sutter at 4 mill...Agreed with everything but the Gaudette bit. He’s not an nhl Center and isn’t good.
Would make a nice sweetener possibly to clear a salary.

He would be a beauty defensive partner for Hughes.

Likely have to retain some salary too. Doubtful Aquilini will do that. Want to see Sutter, Benn, and Pearson traded for picks for sure. Not only for the draft capital, but also to create space in the lineup for young guys to get opportunity and to be evaluated. Just don’t see Aquilini retaining salary, so we might have to take back salary to get the draft capital. Yes, we get draft capital, but lose out on getting room on the roster.Sutter had a fairly good game, to his credit if a team decides they need a guy to kill penalties he could a target
Only way we get value is it’s like the ol real estate market and a bidding war drives his return above asking price which I think is a 3rd round pick
