Man, I'm getting beat by a team with Jonathan Quick and Mark Staal haha
Then imagine how I feel losing to the AHL.

Neither Dubois or Stastny are #1 centres (unlike Suzuki) or even full-time #2 centres (they both got shifted to the wing frequently last season.)

Their bottom six is either old on the downswing, offensive black holes, or someone who should be ineligible in this game due to concussions:

Paul Byron - Jason Dickinson - Ondrej Kase
Derick Brassard - Derek Ryan - Tyler Ennis

And then you look at my bottom six where the third line is a functional second line, and my fourth line a soft minutes third line:

Copp - Mittelstadt - Nichushkin
Cousins - Perfetti - A. Nylander

Throw in their old and declining bottom pair in Kulikov-Vatanen and then compare them against POJ-Montour who will both be top four for Florida and Pittsburgh next season. If you don't like De Haan-Zub, pretend they're the third pairing (even though underlying metrics like both of them a lot and they excelled in their shutdown roles last season).

Put all that together, and you have a sad Panda.

Suzuki is not a 1C (yet). Dubois has had 3 great NHL seasons and struggled last season but has played most his career at Center.

Stastny has outperformed Henrique in 5 of the last 6 seasons and has a lot more playoff experience. He has played C nearly his whole career.

Little to none of your 3rd line could pass as a 2nd line player. Copp maybe but another example of a mid-6 forward with inflated numbers to get a payday. Mittelstadt will likely become top 6 but he isnt yet.

2/3rds your bottom line are very young and based on more on hope with a former high draft pick who is failing to live to expectation and a player who has never played in the league before.

The AHL bottom 6 has a lot of grit and experience.

The AHL top 4 defense is stronger. Slavin solid at no.1 on left side but i think AHL is superior in the other 3 out of 4 remaining players.

I gotta say though, you do manage to find away of trying to oversell your team whilst taking cheap shots at your opponent.

Suzuki vs Dubois
Suzuki is a number one centre, which is why he has been played as Montreal's #1C since the middle of last season. Refer to playoffs, and then look towards this game being a projection for next season where Suzuki will continue improving. He's already performing as a lower end #1, and again, note that this game is set for the 21-22 playoffs.

Dubois struggled so much that he got relegated to a fourth line winger at times. He had one good season getting carried by Panarin, Atkinson, Werenski and Jones and has been trending down since.

Henrique vs Stastny

Stastny bounced between left wing and centre last season. He's 36 soon.

Henrique posted 0.40 EV PPG while Stastny posted 0.36 EV PPG. Henrique is on a substantially worse team.

Bonus: Henrique posted 11 points in 10 games at the World's where he captained Team Canada.

Third Line
Mittelstadt posted 16 points in 21 games with excellent underlying numbers once Ralph Krueger got fired and will comfortably be recognized as a 2C by the end of next season.

Copp is a second line winger. Not a debate. Nichushkin's possession game is so good that he would be a second line winger for half the teams in the NHL.

Again, compare Copp-Mittelstadt-Nuke to Byron (past it), Dickinson (black hole) and Kase (concussions galore). Huge difference.

Bottom Line
You're right that the bottom line is young. It has a lower floor than his, but the ceiling is way higher.

The Defence
Oleksiak is not better than Severson.

His middle pairing is better, hands up. Mine is a shutdown only affair.

His bottom pairing is declining. POJ is getting a shot with Letang next season and is projected to be a top four player off the bat for Pittsburgh. Montour did fantastic in Florida and re-signed there. By season's end, my bottom pair is likely my middle pair.
