It's early, but Calgary is down so I am going to make my panic pitch early.

Calgary > Florida and here is why.

They have the more proven/likely better goaltending. They also have the better top pair (but Chabot-DeMelo is still very good with proven chemistry). Outside of that, it is Calgary.

Our D2 crushes theirs, even if you have high hopes for Ghost to rebound which is clearly the biggest question mark here. Orlov is the best of the bunch and Shattenkirk is arguably the 2nd best.

On D3, they have two offensive leaning rookies. Fun, yes. Will run into problems, also yes. We have one of our own (with the most pro experience of them all) and a solid veteran who consistently performs pretty well playing 18+ minutes a night. A luxury to have in a #6 role.

So despite their top pair having an advantage (talent wise anyways), our D is deeper and better.

Line 1: We have the best player and proven chemistry with Malkin-Rust. Skinner is proven to score when actually playing with any talent at all (ignore last year in a really bad situation). This is close but our top line is better.

Line 2: Like our 2nd pairing, clear win. Cirelli is the much better center, Konecny is by far the best winger. Our line is young but more talented and I don't see this one as much of a debate.

Line 3: Battle of two more defensive lines. Calgary has a much more proven line and you know what to expect. Rossi is fun but a question mark and unlikely to fill a top defensive role better than a cup winner like Hagelin for next year. Steen is aging quick meanwhile Levio can chip in goals at a reliable rate from this line. Take the line that is more dependable to produce for next year, Calgary,

Line 4: Florida has some offensive skill but 2 players who are slowing QUICKLY and a rookie in Cozens providing the only speed that line has may not be a recipe for success. Cizikas is relied upon to play a 3rd line role by the Isles and is praised by many for the job he does. We then have two extremely fast PKers (along with Hagelin to make a dangerous PK) flanking him. Again, Calgary is just more dependable to be a successful line here.

Vote Calgary > Florida. Better offense and deeper defense. Florida is fun with lots of potential for the future but next year Calgary has a much better mix of guys in their prime that will help them win.
