quick look

Boston has the most impactful player going forward in Pastrnak

Hughes, who's spent the entire year bulking up and getting stronger, to carry the second line as a #1 OA

Better bottom six

Better defence on every pair

Best goalie in game

Feel free to fall victim to board overhype on a Laf-Seg-Stone tho clouding your view of actual teams

Toronto is a 1 line team, his D is slightly better but gets crushed by my truculence. Goaltending is equal. Aight.

And tbh Toronto annoyingly isn't soft. Like at all. His top pair will by nasty, Mack is mean in the playoffs, Brown is mean, Mantha big, Thomas chippy, Crouse mean, Soderberg chippy, Robinson/Hathaway make a chippy L4, Cole/Holden hold their own.

I love Ottawa but tough draw.

I disagree completely, Barkov is the perfect counter to MacDeus and Matthew is by far the 3rd better player between L1s, Tor 2nd line is possession trash, my 3 rd line is elite (but I always draft the same guys there and clearly theyre not that populr I cant win a vote anymore lol. Ottawa has so mucb hustle guys its not even funny). I love your “Mantha is big” point btw .

My D gets the job done. Ott wins the game with cycling/grinding, dirty goals and painfully exhausting other team. Can you imagine having to face 2x Tkachuks + Wilson 40 mins a game backed by 3 elite 2-way Cs ?

Dont forget this is a playoff round with no whistle. Usually Im ok with losing as long as I get mope and panda votes but 11-0 ? Daym

I feel your pain--while not 11/0, Vegas is losing despite:
  • first line LW having 38 points in 54 playoff games; opposition 1 LW has 0 points in 5 playoff games
  • 3rd LW having numerous better scoring seasons than the best season from opponent's 2rd LW.
  • goalie having won 2 STANLEY CUPS and coming off strong season; opposition goalie is a rookie
  • having a 2C who has been a productive 1C most of his career

dude Ottawa's third line trounces Toronto's and his fourth line is better too

he loses it on his defence where he has people like Conor Murphy on his first pair and Oleksiak-Holl are both third pair guys who can stint on the second with better players

montreal was very lucky to have had the COVID-19 break where Price could physically recover after the season. dudes durability sucks, and he won't have the same advantage going into 2021 playoffs even if he does start less often this upcoming season with Allen

edit: on review you took Grubauer way early and missed out on Rasmus Andersson. Colorado also boned you by taking Philippe Myers one pick ahead of Hyman.

Conor Murphy sucks, tho, and you could've grabbed DeMelo/Cole/etc over him

My D is designed to not be in trouble in their own zone for too long while the forwards will win most board battles and the top 3 Cs are far above average defensively. Oleksiak held his own on a first pair (sure with Heiskanen), Holl did fine on a top4. Murphy has become my go to guy for a reliable RD who goes later than he should. None of my top 4 are anywhere near as bad as Gustafsson defensively. Man my top 6 would feast on that guy.

Yeah the Myers pick f***ed me hard, kinda gave up my D at that point.

After further evaluation your team is built well and you get my vote Kent.

Thx bro, changing a vote is a lot of work. I would never do that.

Probably my favorite team Ive drafted so far yet the one thats doing the most poorly.

To address those points:
  • That stat does not paint a fair picture of Ilya Mikheyev, and also fails to mention that he'll be playing with Aho and Rantanen.
  • I'm an Oilers fan, and Ennis is not better than Kempe. Not by a long shot.
  • Antti Niemi has a Stanley Cup, doesn't mean he's better than Connor Hellebuyck. Heading into next year there's a decent chance both Koskinen and Demko are better than Corey Crawford.
  • My 2C has also been a productive 1C for most of his career. I think most would agree that Couture > Monahan.
I think my team is winning because I have more firepower up front (Aho, Rantanen) as well as a #1 d-man in Brent Burns and another defenseman in Brian Dumoulin who is better than any of yours. Voters also likely have more confidence in a Koskinen - Demko tandem than in Crawford - Hogberg.

I will say that you managed to build a very impressive team despite a restriction and this being just your second game. Your team matches up well against mine and I wouldn't fault anyone for voting for you.

And @Blinny, your team is comfortably in my top-10 and has some of my favourite players in Draisaitl, Dach, and Pulock. I think you just ran into a tough matchup, the Avs are the stronger team I built this game.

That stat does not paint a fair picture of Ilya Mikheyev, and also fails to mention that he'll be playing with Aho and Rantanen.
I like Mikheyev quite a bit. But his ceiling is Marchessault. Right now in a 7-game series Marchessault is a better asset by a signficant margin.

I'm an Oilers fan, and Ennis is not better than Kempe. Not by a long shot.
Granlund is my 2LW and is better than Kempe and Ennis is definitely better than Nick Robertson at the moment, I think Robertson will likely be close to Granlund in the future. Though I will give you Robertson's upside if you give me Boqvist being the best D on either team!
Antti Niemi has a Stanley Cup, doesn't mean he's better than Connor Hellebuyck. Heading into next year there's a decent chance both Koskinen and Demko are better than Corey Crawford.
Crawford will fall off--but he didn't in 19-20 and that is really all voters have to go by. Crawford was a top 10 goalie this past season. Crawford was 10th in Point Share (hockey-reference) and 6th in quality starts for goalies with at least 20 starts. In a 7 game series Crawford is clearly the best goalie and Hogberg doesn't play.

As a Canes fan I love Aho, but willingly admit that Zibanejad has become a beast.
Mikheyev/Aho/Rantanen has fire-power, but not "more" than Marchessault/Zibanejad/Lindholm.
as well as a #1 d-man in Brent Burns and another defenseman in Brian Dumoulin who is better than any of yours.
Fowler is not a stud, but this past season he was as good as Burns. Both teams have good special teams (VGK a little better PK), Edmonton doesn't take tons of penalties so even that won't be an advantage for Vegas. That means the games might be decided at even-strength. Burns and Fowler had almost identical strength of competition. Burns was -22 and Fowler was even. The Sharks (180 GF/225 GA) and Ducks (182 GF/225 GA) were amazingly similar overall. In this case +/- is a decent stat to compare impact. Fowler is as advantage at even strength, Burns is an advantage on the power play, which Edmonton will see rarely.

This is a good matchup and is reflected in the closeness--so I can't let the voters decide based on incomplete information.

Daym

Toronto really is just better

You move on in a lot of matchups

I feel your pain--while not 11/0, Vegas is losing despite:
  • first line LW having 38 points in 54 playoff games; opposition 1 LW has 0 points in 5 playoff games
  • 3rd LW having numerous better scoring seasons than the best season from opponent's 2rd LW.
  • goalie having won 2 STANLEY CUPS and coming off strong season; opposition goalie is a rookie
  • having a 2C who has been a productive 1C most of his career
I nearly picked you but... Fowler-Carlo

I think you were reallyyyyy close to better, I really agree your F are very strong, and your G is better, but it came down to the blue line for me, it was just too big a hole to vote through, a lot like @Kent Nilsson
