If I faced you I would have had a hard time arguing me winning tbh lol.

You built a hell of a squad especially for picking so late.

Genuinely think this was the best team I've created yet and the top one in this game, but alas the main board voters have spoken. Should be your win here for sure, can't believe that opposing defense even won a round tbh.

We likely have better knowledge of players across the league than the average main boards voter since we're competing with each other to find the best value at any given draft position.

Lots of us, through a combination of viewings and diving into the world of statistics, are able to go "hey that OEL isn't what he's cracked up to be" while a main boards poster is far more likely to vote from his reputation instead.

I mean, Jason f***ing Demers got better results than OEL at 5v5 while playing the same level of competition for the same average number of 5v5 minutes a game.

Hell, if you go by the main boards, Doughty today is better than:
  • Rielly
  • Letang
  • Ekblad
  • Provorov
  • Werenski
  • Burns
  • Suter
  • Spurgeon
  • Parayko
  • Ellis
He sure as f*** isn't. Doughty's been cratering the past two seasons. 17-18 Doughty is very good, while 15-16/16-17 Doughty is fantastic.

But Doughty now and going forward?

Nope. Overrated on the mains.

Woah I was on board with this whole bashing of the mains thing until it was about a player on my team. Maybe they are not so wrong after all...

And again we have two pretty miserable defenses in the finals.

When was the last time an actual Finals team had a defense like the one that wins regularly here?

I don't think either defence is that good, nor that bad. They're both "meh". Many teams (Toronto, Dallas, New Jersey, Anaheim of the final 8) had better IMO.

I swear, next game my D is going to be Jultz, Cholowski, Bowey, Erik Gustafsson (the other one born 1988) and two forwards.

Hedman can carry a D pair easy.

Martinez is legit #3. Joki is underrated but a legit #4 (and maybe more by next year).

Lehtonen has tons of potential. CDH is a fine bottom pair D.

Not going to pretend like my D is the best in the game, but it is hardly miserable.

lol @m0pe buddy I think I legit jinxed you there. You were up 4-2 in voting when I posted and now it's 6-6. I'm sorry I failed you master.

Edit:

9-7 now. RIP pal. It was a good run but we'll get 'em next time.

Like I said, meh

Not the best but it's solid. A solid team tends to beat out a team that hyper focused on one spot

Think the biggest key for why Ottawa is being voted is Hellebuyck.

All the teams he faced had much more unproven goalies and even though they are all good, the mains would have saw a Vezina winner as a clear mismatch.

It's too bad he would've faced 80 shots a game

I think by this point the goalies for both teams would be dead of exhaustion. That means we have to consider which skater would make the best netminder, and since Luc spends most of the game in front of the net anyway (mostly because he can't skate back to the bench before the game is over) he and thus St. Louis gets my vote.

You know, that might actually be the first thing Risto is useful for too
