Wood and Vatrano are good complimentary wingers, Benn has been excellent this year.

Pelech/Pulock one of if not the best pair in the league, Gryz and Holl both very capable top 4 D, and a capable bottom pair.

The goalies have been 2 of the best this year, 5th and 6th respectively in GSAA in fact.

I'm a big fan of Miles Wood. While Vatrano definitely isn't an ideal 6th forward, the third line (I like Blackwell as well) helps make up for it. I love the Kuch - Tavares and Benn - Couture fits.

I don't see how the defense is weak. Pelech - Pulock is the top pairing on one of the best defensive teams in the league, and Holl + Grzelcyk are two underrated guys who would compliment each other nicely.

While I think Lankinen's numbers aren't at all sustainable, Peterson's a capable backup and both have been very solid this year. (I'd take those guys over Frederick Anderson, for example)

I'm very glad you see what I mean about the forwards, nothing wrong with a complimentary piece in the top 6, as Toronto has shown by playing Thornton/Simmonds/Galchenyuk/Vesey/Kerfoot in the top 6 at various times with success. It's more about fits.

The defence hate I don't get at all since most people seemed to like it a lot this time. I think this is more just an attack on the top ranked team in the division, then holes that are actually there.

Freddy Andersen for example is being overtaken by Jack Campbell this year, who has played even less than Lankinen or Petersen.
