Price was pumped after tonight’s win! It was very nice to see

Price is rarely a guy to show emotion ( which his haters love to criticize him for ) but it really meant something to him, to go on the break with a win, he has been lights out recently.

Yeah he was fired up. It's like he and Kovy had some conversation about "look at them odds, everybody says we're dead in the water". Both at the same time, "hold my beer". Two guys who were once franchise players, and may have had a "let's prove them wrong" type of exchange in the room. It's showing.

Thank you for starting a thread like this. I am so tired of reading the whiners yelling “tank” because most people in the know know that what is best for a young team is to build on SUCCESS.....not losing game after game.
I believe the only reason we are struggling is because of so many injured players and to me that makes 100% sense. Why would anyone expect any team to be successful with 4 of their better players out for an extended time? They wouldn’t....or shouldn’t.
Anyhow, if we win tonight, then have this long break, get back most or all our injured players, we could very easily get a winning streak going that could propel us right back in the playoff hunt. First things first....let’s win tonight.
The Habs are in this position due to lack of depth in case of injuries which is a regular occurrence in this sport. If a GM's strategy is to put together a team that he thinks makes the playoffs AS LONG AS injuries don't happen, then he's incompetent. You can forecast point production based on a decent sample size (let's say 15 games) of relative health and then throw in variability score for loss of points due to injured players. It's not a perfect science but it's what you need for contingency planning. MB's contigency plan was to cross his fingers in hopes the damage isn't too bad. Yeah, two 8 game losing streaks is what happened and his two moves were Scandella and Kovalchuk. Face it, Bergevin is either betting on not making the playoffs or he's Harry Potter level magical thinking

21-7 ain't that crazy. Just took a look at our Schedule coming up and there's some bad team that should be an automatic win if they are really still playing for their lives. Drouin should help us create more offensively as well.

If the Leafs and Cats continue to lose, we might not need as many wins as expected to make it.
The Panthers have a history of falling down the standings at this time of the year.
The Leafs have many key injuries.
There's too many teams to beat to make it to the wild card, but there might still be a path to the playoffs in our division...

Let's say... The Panthers are 15-13-1 in their last 29 games. (total : 95 points)
The Leafs are 15-11-2 in their last 28 games (total : 95 points)

Then all of the following records would be enough to qualify (if they get the gamebreaker) :
18-8-0
17-7-2
16-6-4
15-5-6

A win Saturday against the Leafs, one Monday against the Coyotes (who have 2 wins in their last 10), combined with losses on Saturday and Sunday by Florida and we're right at the gates.

Only problem is that Florida has 3 games on hand.

We have 26 games left as of Feb 7. Or to put it another way 52 points. We have 59 points in the bank. I'm betting that 99 points gets you into the playoffs. That means we need to earn 40 of the last 52 points. An extremely difficult but not impossible task.

My gut tells me MB will wait till the week before TDL. That means the players have from tomorrow's game against the Leafs till the game against Dallas to impress MB. That's 5 games. If the Habs win them all or lose just one, he may roll the dice and let them go for it. I wouldn't wait past that Dallas game and I wouldn't be a buyer. If, on the other hand, they lose more than one game then MB should look at preparing this team for the future.
