After a month of voting, we have our prospects list. The top 25 are based on the votes they got round-by-round; the next 5 listed as "Honorable Mentions" and rated 26-30 are placed based on the number of votes they got in the last round with the order at which they were added to the poll serving as the tie-breaker where the number of votes was tied. The final 6 are unrated and listed as "Rangers Property."

WHO IS A PROSPECT: We can't all have different standards based on what we each want personally, so WE follow HF rules. The standard for what's a prospect is here: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect

fun effort, but lots of guessing, and skew towards the newest adds, as usual,

very high, but fair, hopes for 4 goalies, and faith in '15 top pick F picks Gropp, Kovacs

IMHO 13 thru 27 could be listed in almost any order

3. Igor Shestyorkin
4. Adam Tambellini
5. Oscar Lindberg
6. Dylan McIlrath
7. Ryan Gropp
8. Richard Nejezchleb
9. Brandon Halverson
10.Ryan Graves

The top2 is actually very easy. They'll be valuable players for the Rangers. After that, it's more difficult. I feel Shestyorkin and Tambellini have the highest potential and can add more than Lindberg and McIlrath, despite the latter 2 already being on the team. Tambellini has middle-6 potential, while Lindberg is more a bottom-6 player.

Nejezchleb is quite high on my list compared to the overall rankings, but I truly feel he has the potential to make the team. He has the frame necessary. He will have to develop for a year or 2 at least in the AHL, but he is a real wildcard.

Other players I feel have a good chance of making the team:

Boo Nieves
Marek Hrivik
Ryan Bourque
Steven Fogarty
Brad Morrison
Robin Kovacs

I'd probably do it something like this. I used to do my own rankings before we did the voting, and it was based on watching the guys that I could pretty extensively. I don't have nearly the time that I used to, so I'm a lot less confident in my rankings than I once was. It wouldn't be hard to sway me on some of these rankings. Seems like the back half of the group is particularly close. Not a lot to separate many of these guys.

Not sure why Zboro is not on your list of players with a good chance to make it when Morrison and Kovacs are. He just got drafted in the third round and then started very hot in the juniors. Mantha, Saarela (barring injury), Fogarty, Hell should also be on the list of players with a good chance to make it.

I hope beacon's favorite college prospect (;)) Fogarty can come in next year and be a sort of Riley Sheahan type Dom Moore replacement

The jury's out on his offense so far but by all accounts he's been a good defensive center men in his college career

I have no particular beef with Foggy. I was opposed to the idea that he's projecting as a realistic 3rd liner because third liners put up a lot of points at lower levels (see: Moore, Lindberg, Fast) because they have the skills to dominate all zones. Fogarty has not done that. He may still be a 4th liner, but that's not assured either. He's essentially an NCAA overager this season, so he really should be a top shelf college player if he's to have an NHL career.

Honestly, How can I? I haven't seen many of them play, approx half the list.

I think there's an understanding with these things that some guys we're evaluating just based off of scouting reports, highlights, and other posters' impressions. It's hard to watch the European guys (for most of us), ECHL isn't available for viewing, college games aren't shown that often outside of a few teams, etc. It's close to impossible to have extended viewings of all the guys, so we just do our best with the knowledge we have.
