I wonder if he sneaks his way into the first round. Definitely a second rounder at worst right now.

7 points in 3 games now. At the U17's, looks like his numbers were right inline with the other top Russian young guns (Podkolzin, Gutik, Guskov, Spiridonov, Gushchin, Zaitsev). Pretty interesting that 2 of those guys (Afanasyev and Gushchin) have followed Svechinkov's footsteps to the Muskegon club in the USHL and they are joint top scorers with 7 points. The Lumberjacks also have a third Russian, Yakovenko, who is older and not really an NHL prospect but has already been a regular at the VHL level in Russia.

I've asked this before but never saw an answer...does Muskegon have a coaching or scouting connection to Russia that they've been able to land 3 high-profile Russian youth talents?

I don’t know how he’s not a consensus top 40 pick for some people, I have him in my 1st round.

He seems to be a polarizing prospect.

Some view him as a 1st rounder, some don’t even list him in the first 3 rounds.

It will be interesting to see where he goes.
