Decent numbers in his second Liiga season and size and penalty minutes suggest he may have a physical element to his game.

Any chance he is considered as a free agent by either an NHL or AHL team?

I don't think so. He's numbers are boosted by playing with Ryan Lasch and has a long way to go still to become even a top 6 player in Liiga.

Any informations about him? Looks good enough to maybe move to NA and try to get a nhl spot? Just curious because of his stats and size

Big jump in points after moving from Pelicans to Tappara.

Wondered if that's just haves/have nots nature of Liiga or if there is legitimate NHL potential.

Devils for one are an organization in need of size and scoring ability.

Signed one-year contract with Tampa Bay last month.

The Lightning have either traded or released a number of their veteran forwards to get under the salary cap.

It will be interesting to see how much of an opportunity Merela receives during training camp.

So far the way Merela is playing, he's playing himself on the starting roster for the Lightning. He's too good for the AHL, he won't benefit playing there anymore. He needs NHL minutes and he's showing he's earned it.
