He was drafted by Blainville-Boisbriand in the QMJHL American Draft. Highly unlikely he goes that route, but there are worse teams.

I figured it was either Marty's son or one of those fake NHL19-generated names like Ricky Kekkalienen or D'Andre Jagr.

So Martin made a big contribution to USA Hockey like Ray Bourque and now all of his mediocre hockey playing sons will be on national teams for the next decade.

Well Marty is from Laval which is basically next door to Blainville, so there's that. I don't now a thing about Ryan so we'll just have to wait and see. It would be fun to see him in camp at least, even for just 48 hours

Surprised the kid doesn't have a French first name.

Ryan is a popular name in french. I think most bilingual french first parents will try to name their kid in a way that both language won't butcher the name.

Playing on the first line today

The lines are mixed, so there’s no such thing as a first line. And it was an exhibition where the team scored 13 goals, so I wouldn’t take much from the game.

He needs to show more this season or he won’t be drafted. It’s a good story that MSL’s son is playing at the NTDP, but there’s still an open question if it’ll go any better than when Doug Weight’s son played at the NTDP.

With the shifting landscape of college hockey due to transfers and NILs the league that has been hit hardest is the ECAC, particularly the Ivy League schools. As a result, there are a handful of players who could be considered NHL prospects and most offensive numbers can be treated with a grain of salt.
