External Blu-ray/DVD player

So as stated in the title - I'm looking for an external blu-ray/DVD player for my laptop. I have a lot of blu-ray now so I do want one capable of playing it.

That's what I'm looking at now but really I have no idea. It says it plays the blu-ray discs but it also says burner and IDK if that means it costs more or what... I just want something that I can plug into my laptop that plays the blu-ray disc. I don't need burning capabilities.

So I have some SATA/IDE external connector cables and am also looking at internal drives I can put in a spare enclosure and/or hook up to external connectors.

Anyone know the difference aside from 14x, 16x? Because one explicitly states "no software" and the other avoids mentioning software implying it has software?

Blu ray? I think I learned about those in my history class but can't quite put my finger on it.
