From a Wild fan I deal with as a vendor

Was surprised Boston gave up on him so quickly after seeing him in the Olympics. He looks to shoot the puck which it what the Wild needs. They are a long ways away from contending.

And a few words about Coyle and this guy is around athletes

He’s the nicest athlete I’ve ever met. Awesome with fans and humble. I hope it works out for him.

That’s one thing I’ll give Donato, he’ll never turn down an opportunity to shoot the puck no matter where he is on the ice.

And those rooting for his success are blind to the fact that it is extremely rare for an NHL starter to be sent to the minors after the season is over, and the fact Ryan Donato was sent down points to his game trailing off after a hot start. We can't help it if our predictions of what would happen to his game came true.
What you are ignoring is that Greenway and Kunin are also being sent down with Donato. This is all about them getting additional playing time, and helping out the AHL club, which has been poor for years. All three of those players are middle six NHL players. Donato has to hit the gym this summer and get quicker and stronger, though.

Bitterness? Ones playing in Iowa the other 2 are playing in round 1 vs Toronto but yeah go ahead and die on that hill

Seems to me the only bitterness being expressed here is for whatever Donato apparently means to posters who don’t want to let go of the fact that he’s no longer a Boston Bruin

Still though these posters calling out Donato when he out produced both our trade acquisitions easily doenst make sense. Bitterness thats all
Ah yes outproducing a guy who played what...7 games for the Bruins because of injury. What an accomplishment!!

Real hot take there bud.

Donato started hot, and faded, all while playing more poor neutral and defensive zone play.

I like the kid, and hope he does well, but he wasn't the answer for this team this year, or for the next few TBH.

Shit on Heinen all you want, but he was still playing smart hockey when he wasn't producing.

Whatever. No matter what this kid does at 45 game 60 game 250 games many Bruins fans will be there to discredit it

Here's the thing, Donato started really strong and then faded.

7 points in 5 games, then 9 points in 8, 13 in 13 and ended with 2 points in his last 9, no goals, ending with 4-12-16 in 22 games, while playing 3 full minutes more than with the Bruins. That's a 14 goals pace in 82 games. His shot % was even worst than the 8%he had with the Bruins: 6%.

If I was a Wild fan I would be worried about which Donato will show next season, the promising scorer or Spooner part 2.

Not to take anything from Donato but i am happy we have Coyle centering 3rd line going into this series.

Wish him well but we needed someone to put on 3rd line and we got Coyle.

Simple as that.

did donato really shock anyone? we knew he had offensive talent. guys with offense talent can get hot. hell spooner got hot in ny last year right? I think brandon bochenski got hot when we traded for him?

donato ended up with 4 goals and 16 points in 22 games for minny. lets say he has a hot streak in every 20 game strectch of games...

thats still only on pace for 16 goals and 56 points over a full season... with weak defense

isnt that what we all thought he would get if we were willing to play him here and put up with his weak defense?

I certainly am not shocked at all with his offense

he had 9 points in 12 games for us last year. its the same pace... so we know he can score. he scored for us too. the only difference is we arent willing to play him when he sucks that much at the other parts of the game.

I doubt minny will either. ny put up with spooner for awhile then sent him to Edmonton... then to Vancouver. those are 3 non playoff teams desperate for offense that didnt want spooner

it requires more than scoring to keep an nhl job... but if you are 1 dimensional, then you better damn well make sure you do that 1 thing well.

he will need to score better to continue to keep a job

You were already proven wrong with Pasta but

Wild sent 3 down, Arizona sent Garland down, Buffalo sent Nylander down, Anaheim sent Max Jones down, Florida sent Jayce Hawryluk and Dryden Hunt down. Philly sent Phillipe Myers down.

And that’s all just this year skimming the transactions for names that stand out to me. It’s pretty common for teams that miss the playoffs to send their higher potential young guys down for more reps after the season is over. It’s a tool I don’t blame GMs for using, I would do the same thing personally as long as you don’t have to deal with waivers.

You can do the same thing for the year before as well..the list starts with Haydn Fleury..but I think the point probably stands that this means nothing other than they want him playing a few extra playoff games and probably working on a couple things. No need to refresh the Iowa Wild’s transaction page anymore
