The only bad contract the Leafs have is Lupul's and his salary is less than his cap hit so it is an easy buyout and also expires before thier big 3 need contracts and he is still a leader when he plays. Mean while we have Moulson who is still around for Eichel and Reinharts extentions as well as the biggest cancer in hockey Evander Kane. Their is also Bogosian who has 4 years and a NMC. Man that Myers trade is so heavily won in Winnipegs favor its not even funny.

It really doesn't matter. JVR, Lupul, Bozak, Gardiner and Kane Moulson Ennis will all be gone when the money is needed.

Kane will be gone & Moulson will (likely) be bought out when Eichel & Reinhart ELC's are up. Can move Ennis if needed. That's over 15 mil right there, not counting Gionta Gorges & Franson's 12 mil coming off in the next 2 years. We're fine

So um Jack Eichel isn't a super star? Ryan Oreilly? Ristolanen is well on his way to being a premier defender.

That aside I want no part of Kane.

I didnt say i would rather have Darcy. But you have to know when to make the big trades. Kane isnt the kind of guy you gamble on. Everyone knew about his issues. But Muray overpayed heavily for him just to get him first and its backfiring

Sure he took a gamble.... but the only piece I miss from that trade is Brandon Lemieux.

I miss the first too. Think of the defenseman we could have got for that package though.

At the time, we still had Zadorov, and were the worst team in league history for scoring points. Kane was a gamble, and may yet still pay off. He has not been a problem on ice, and hopefully, the Sabres can find someone in that locker room to get through to him.
