I can't say that I agree with playing him as a 7th defenseman. It basically tells me that they have no intention of playing him as a top 6 guy because they feel that he has too many warts to his game. I get that you don't want him PKing, but he should be able to take a regular defensive shift IMO.

I really hope Bouch knocks it out of the park tonight and going forward, but I worry that if he does struggle, and even struggle big time, there is going to be some serious unwarranted nasty blowback on this site, given some of the lofty and unrealistic expectations I'm seeing so far.

If ur gonna start him vs an easy opponent, Ottawa is the team to do it against

He deserves an opportunity. He is younger than Bear, Lagesson and Jones so if he by chance craps the bed it shouldn't be too alarming. On the flip side if he comes in and kicks some ass then it bodes well for our teams future.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve an opportunity, just that I would prefer if expectations were tempered somewhat. As you know, people on here can get a little more than excited, and the switch can change quickly.

IMO he should've gotten the first and 2nd game against Ottawa. Sadly it took an injury to Bear for him to finally get his chance.
Bear was out for the last Ottawa game as well. It’s possible his back was still bugging him. Tippett hinted he wanted to play him over Jones against Toronto last week but didn’t because of the back.

Hahahaha

Oh wait, you didn't know?

Huh? Sarcasm?? I've watched Chiasson sit in front of the net with pure uselessness for the first 8 or so games of the season :P, and so seeing him get sat and waived once Neal returned was thrilling from a 'watching hockey for enjoyment' perspective.. Am i missing something, sarcasm is hard online LOL. I don't believe I stated when Chiasson was taken off, just that he was.. heh

anyyywhoo, GO BOUCHARD

Oh man, sorry, you must have missed the drama then lol.

Chiasson was waived, cleared, and is now back in the lineup while Neal has been healthy scratched after a 2 goal performance. Yup, it really doesn't make sense to anyone else...

So it looks like Chiasson is on the powerplay to put up more goose eggs...

I'll wait until he gets some games in but I certainly hope he's more than able to just take a few regular shifts. There are kids nearly a year younger than him in K'andre Miller and Dobson playing 18-20 mins for their clubs and doing well. We already swung and missed on 4th overall Puljujarvi, we can't afford to miss on a another top 10 pick. I am hoping he develops into more than just a specialist/offensive guy because this team seriously needs help in their own end. Top 10 guy should be all situation 2 way guy who contributes to winning.

Oh, my apologies then, because I indeed didn't know that, haha! Wow, well that is a confusing move isn't it...

Good first game. I'd like to see him get at least a few more games against tougher opponents to see where his game is at.
