European draft picks

    So what are you the exact rules now as far as signing or losing them? are previous draft picks grandfathered? Is the new CBA posted anywhere yet?

    I saw it , I think , on USAtoday, in one of Kevin Allen's reviews , that Europeans drafted before this most recent draft will have their rights retained for 4 additional seasons. Those Europeans drafted in the most recent draft will be treated the same as North American prospects. Same with subsequent drafts. Also players who stay in college 4 years will become unrestriced Free Agents under the entry level restrictions.

    and any European drafted in'02 or early must sign by June 1, 2006 or the team loses rights to that draftee.

    2003 - Must sign by June 1, 2007
    2004 - Must sign by June 1, 2008
    2005 - Treated same way as NA draft picks. 2 years to sign or go back in draft
