Am I correct in remembering that players who haven't played in a year are considered retired in the HFNHL?

Retired (by the above definition):

C Mark Smith hasn't played hockey since the 2007-08 season

We'll see when it's final, but it looks like Columbus is in the market for a scoring winger. Tough to lose two of your top 6 to Europe at the same time (Viktor Kozlov being the other). :madfire:

Only b/c phase two hasn't officially opened. I was considering (even knowing he was 90% likely to retire) sending in an offer for Klee. All that means is the contracts I'm going to be offering to RFA's are going higher ... boy there's going to be some GM's PO'd with me :P

Yes but with clarifications
(i) Measuring point is as of October 1st (like retirees and Europe bound) so if they tryout or get signed in September this does not apply.
(ii) Reason for not playing was not medical (missed season b/c of concussion, major surgery, etc.)

Nikolai Zherdev's agent, Rollie Hedges, denied a recent report that his client has already signed with Salavatovo Yuleav Ufa of the KHL.

Fair enough, I suppose. We can revisit my list of departures on October 1st. Oh, I guess I'll have to edit it to include Zherdev's name (who will be kept on my prospect list, just in case). Frickin' Russians... :shakehead
