Taking into account on-ice play, tenure length (he will presumably spend 5 years on the Canucks), and acquisition cost, could Gudbranson end up being the worst Canuck of all time?

And yes, I am aware of the guy in my avatar.

So out of:

What they could offer: This is a tough one. Chris Tanev, who played alongside Rielly at the 2016 World Championships, might be too old and too banged up. And seventh-overall pick Quinn Hughes has far too much potential to give up at this time. Would the Leafs want to take a chance on Olli Juolevi, a fifth-overall pick in 2016 who has yet to play a game in the NHL? Or could Erik Gudbranson be a starting point?

...you draw the conclusion that Gudbranson is more valueable than Tanev and that the Leafs want him for Nylander?

I have say that I think you are stretching it a little too much here.

What good is the hit if the player being hit is back in on the play before he is?

What a ****ing awful player.

He can't be awful. There is a strong correlation between player salaries and their respective worth in the eyes of GMs around the league. Gudbranson is getting paid 4m per. Other GMs have said that they would [offer him the same contract] "in a heart beat". Ergo, Gudbranson is a valued player around the league.

Logic bomb.

You can find clips like that of all star defense man making mistakes and looking silly. Taking a few seconds of bad tape to represent this player instead of the hours of solid play so far this season is really dishonest and doesn’t go unnoticed by people who understand the game of hockey at a higher level.

Oh no, here comes RMB with his systematic dismantling of our arguments. He's gonna make this look easy like he always does.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Erik Gudbranson

Those clips are from one game not spread out over 20. It's the same pile of crap clips you get with him in every game. Stop with the i only understand hockey and you don't card, it's obvious you haven't got a clue.

The issue is that you can also find clips of All-Star defenders doing tangible good things to make their teams better or generating positive results from tough defensive minutes against top players.

Gudbranson's high-water mark is managing to play 3rd pairing minutes 'not horribly' on some nights ... while being an utter liability on a high percentage of others. He's never an actual positive contributor or driver of success.

The guy is basically the exact same player as Andrew Alberts.
