Not sure if this has been done previously here... Looking at the Lindros trade, what would an equivalent trade today, from any team, be if you tried to match up a similar player for each player received in the trade?
(I put in the money using U.S. Inflation Calculator: 1635→2020, Department of Labor data). Try to use the value of the players at the time of the trade and not what they ended up doing in their career.

Steve Duchesne -
Peter Forsberg -
Ron Hextall -
Kerry Huffman -
Mike Ricci -
Chris Simon -
1st round (10th overall)
1st round (10th overall)
$15 million = today 27 million

Honestly pretty hard comparable to make in todays game, it was such an unbelievably lopsided trade as well that it's hard to fathom what todays pieces in such a deal would look like.

Using only Avs players... I guess a somewhat comparable deal would be this?

- Sam Girard(Comparable to Duchesne as a high end young Dman with lots of upside)
- Bowen Byram(Comparable to Forsberg as a recent very high 1st rounder with tonnes of upside not quite in the NHL)
- Philip Grubauer(Comparable to Hextall as a pretty good goalie but maybe not considered high end or elite yet)
- Tyson Jost(Comparable to Huffman, former 1st rounder still struggling to break into the league at a high end level)
- Cale Makar(Comparable to Ricci as a recent Top 5 pick just breaking into the league with stellar rookie seasons)
- Shane Bowers(Comparable to Simon as a B level prospect with fairly limited upside)
- Alex Newhook(Comparable to a ~10th overall pick 1st round selection)
- 2020 1st rounder.

Basically an unbelievably good package. It would leave the Avs with no defense zt all. That said, given the hype and skill associated with Lindros at the time of the trade, it was generally believed the Flyers were getting potentially one of the all time greatest players who would ever play the game(And it's a real shame Lindros fought injuries like he did) so the belief was that while they were giving up a stupidly good package that obviously completely blew up in there faces in hindsight, at the time they thought they were coming out with the best player easily.

So I think the guy in todays game you compare Lindros to in terms of hype/potential would be McDavid.
