Great passing on that counter by Wolves.
Wolves are exactly the type of team Chelsea have struggled against this year. Sarri has made no adjustments to counter it at all even though it happens every time someone sets up like this.
Finally Jorginho is taken off, guy has been inept yet again.
Hazard!!! Incredible goal.
Great goal. Looked like Patricio got a hand on it and could've done better though.
Traore had a chance to steal the points back at the end but scuffed it.
No Lingard in today's match. No excuse not to get the 3...
I think he was partially screened by Rudiger.
Chelsea needs every point. They got 1 instead of zero.
They need to move the ball on offense! Too many guys standing around without the ball.
This is Sarri's system, and Jorginho can't handle pressure at all. Wolves are really good at defending the middle and hitting teams on the counter, and all Chelsea ends up doing against that set up is slowly passing the ball around the outside with no one moving enough to open up lanes. Jorginho is then pressured and folds up easily to a counter.
What about Kovacic? He was equally as bad, but everyone is on Jorginho's case.
He definitely was, but Sarri's entire system flows through Jorginho. Kovacic not being effective is a problem, Jorginho not being effective impacts the entire team.
Kovacic subbing off made almost no difference. Jorginho subbing off resulted in more quality chances in 20 minutes than they had in the previous 70.
I could defend those guys and I just turned 60! Being on the outside makes it easy. You get them to move closer to the touchlines. It is like an extra defender helping you out. I can see why the Wolves do so well against the top teams in the table. On the Chelsea goal, it looked like all 11 Wolves players were in the penalty area. That is packing the goal (parking the bus)!
The Chelsea offense has to move the ball around to shift the defense and get them out of shape to create space. That is soccer 101.
Xhhaka turnover that almost led to Lukaku goal.
Boom Xhaka Laca.
Or more like Laca Xhaka Boom.
Quite a start to this game
"Best GK in the world"
Well that ball swerved in a different direction than De Gea expected.
Bit of a Champions League hangover for United. Nothing that could have been done on the goal against though. I've never seen a ball move like that.
Fred is finally playing with some confidence and it shows
This could be 2-1 to United.
Also have to laugh about the commentators getting on Lukaku for hitting the bar on his chance. As a player myself, that's a really hard ball to tuck in. Trying to ward off a defender and corral a bouncing ball coming across goal isn't a very easy finish.
