And if he busts, he still gets paid.

Potential 77 million roll of the dice is so Reinsdorfian its embarrassing. Give the guy money before he steps onto a MLB field so you can possibly save a few nickels down the line if he actually becomes great. Lol

Eloy has yet to face MLB pitching in a regular season game. It's still 50/50 he can hit in the bigs and the same percentage he can adapt once pitchers get a decent amount of tape on him.

I am happy with this deal and its worth risk

I mean even if he fails to live up to hype its still not the worst deal in Chicago baseball with Jason Heyward and Yu Darvish up on North Side

KBIB and other Cub fans take on this makes me even more confident this is right move and now with this contract extension in place he will be our opening day RF with none of that nonsense we saw with Cubs and Bryant and other ML teams who screw players around when they should be in MLB

Oh good. Now the Jays are going to have to sign Vlad Jr. to a $100m contract before he hits 21.

What a dumb contract.

People don't seem to understand this is only a good deal if he's elite and a top 10 player in the game, and even then, the Sox will just trade him away for prospects by year four or five and get a bunch of prospects and start yet another rebuild.

Nobody seems to remember this guy was compared to Soler. And I am going to laugh when Eloy becomes the second coming of the guy at twice the cost.

Depends where Murray goes in the draft. If he's top-10 he'll get paid.

Guy's supposed to be a very good player but I think this deal might be a bit pre mature. Give him some more time in the big leagues.

I find it fascinating how if Eloy was signing this deal coming from Cuba or Japan it would be praised and the "Never faced ML pitching" would not be issue

The 22 yr old's rookie season is winding down and overall its been more positive then negative

His early struggles seem to have been overcome as he has had strong 2nd half to season and his power is certainly on display this year

115 Games
116 Hits
16 Doubles
1 Triple
28 HR's
71 RBI's
29 BB
126 SO
.314 OBP
.497 SLG
.811 OPS

His OBP/SLG/OPS have been rising in 2nd half of season as his play has improved and as I said his early season struggles weren't shocking given his age and experience level

All in all I am very excited to see what future holds for Eloy
